Acksan, not sure what you're looking for.

Lots of people would willing to step forward and help if you give more detail what you need.

I created several quests before I could do clickies - can easily be done. I even have some alts just to act as sign posts if needed.

Award 3 wp's and you can get a quest page from the Librarian. I'm not sure who can give you wp codes to assign these days -- no kings -- all I can offer is wp's off codes already put in my assignment allocation.

Get 3 wp's yourself and can you can buy that clickie edit ability.

The following ideas might be true, but there is no evidence that they are. They are presented for your amusement - reader beware. Please add your own to this growing list.

1. The Multi-Window alert is actually an advanced level spell used by certain players to prevent attacks on them, and to freeze players in place as they breeze past.

2. The low-grade avatars you see in the shop were NOT selected randomly, but were chosen by a secret committee that is trying to guide your role-playing development.

3. Alpha-zero is actually a code for, "I don't like your work".

4. Your regen timer display is actually manipulated by an advanced spell used by certain players trying to prevent your use of bursts.

5. There are only six real players in this game, and two are on vacation.

6. This entire realm is actually an experimental project of the University of Romania's Psychology Department.

7. Understanding of the rules is carefully monitored. When average comprehension reaches a certain index level, the rules are changed.

8. See your ID number? There really are that many people who have joined MD prior to you, and they almost all are getting updates on your mistakes and screw-ups. Only those who remain active in the game do NOT get these updates.

9. Mur is really Elvis.

10. The game is NOT run out of Romainia, it is run by space aliens studying earth culture.

11. The game is actually an attempt by islamic extremeists to undermine western productivity by drawing off the creative thinkers from the western work force.

We have a winner! Valldore Nal solved the syllogism and wrote up a nice background too. Below is his solution - spoiler warning because it shows the clues and puzzle answer, but not the password. Congratulations!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm going to present the various clues for references on my answer (long message again, sorry ) :

All Spirits are indeed dead
All who are dead have at some point died
All those who have died have received a mortal assault
Mortal Assaults are either combat wounds or magical insults
Pickle Juice cures all combat wounds
Pickle Juice never cures Magical Insults
Everyone receiving Magical Insults passes into the Spirit Underground
Everyone in the Spirit Underground is lost and confused
Anyone lost and confused loses faith
Anyone with no faith loses hope
Anyone with no hope loses courage
Anyone with no courage will despair

So now to our problem. Fyrd had a break down and we need to find why. I think i finally know why Fyrd had a break down. The spirits told him all the clues they told me as well (or he already knew them) and he realized something.

All spirits are dead .
Since they are dead, at some point they died.
All those who have died, received a mortal assault. (So all spirits received it )
Mortal assault can be combat wound or magical insult
If it was combat wound, it would have been healed with pickle juice
Since they died and pickle juice doesn't cure magical insult, the assault was a magical insult
So all spirits received a magical insult.

At this point Fyrd has realized something already: he can't do anything to help the spirits (since they all received a magical insult) . And why is that a problem ?

Everyone receiving Magical Insults passes into the Spirit Underground (so all spirits pass there)

Everyone in the spirit underground is lost and confused (so all spirits are)
Anyone who is already lost and confused loses faith (so all spirits lost faith)
Anyone who already lost faith, loses hope (so all spirits lost hope)
Anyone who already lost hope, loses courage (so all spirits lost courage)
Anyone who already lost courage will despair (so all spirits will despair)

That is the conclusion Fyrd realized : All spirits will despair

He could do nothing about it to help them. And that's what caused Fyrd a mental break down

Fyrd Argentus is now verily a broken down old man. After abusing too much pickle juice and standing out in the hail at GoE for too long, his stats are now 7 out of 9 negative and his nearly impressive vitality is exhausted three times over just walking across Marind Bell. His loss-win differential matches his active days - both over a thousand. His pursuit of lost spirits has made him become one. You may see the remains of his confused and dazed spirit (Fyrd Alyzer) running around compulsively haunting, or should I say Fyrd-alyzing, a whole new crop of clickies. He won't even recognize himself though.... Do not fear -- all of Fyrd's quests remain active, and all prizes will be awarded -- eventually. Just don't try to contact Fyrd by in-game PM -- stick with the forum please if you want attention. Fang Archbane retains temporary custody of the famous Pickle Jar and we trust he will continue to pass out pickles to those in need. [p.s. why won't my return key register any more?]

Fyrd's unbalanced, his inner child is running around "discovering" all the old spirits he had awoken before his mental break-down.

What to do:
1) Guess the correct way to address a spirit (clickie pswd)
2) Find all dozen and collect their clues
3) Solve the puzzle to learn the sad reason Fyrd lost it.

Only includes the common areas of no-man's-land, Marind Bell, and the MD Archives (south of the gate), so everybody can participate.

Just go search for clickies and guess that universal password.

Hint: this form of puzzle was made famous by the guy who invented the original White Rabbit.

No rewards unless sponsored, but this quest is the pre-requisite to another grand series of quests to come.

Just in case there is a sponsor, and you want to verify a time stamp, send me a forum PM with your answer.

This is just one more social experiment - game within a game - in MD. Mur or his alts want to see if we can pull together cooperatively to operate at the higher steady state of herb production, or if selfish actions will tear down the effort and herb production is at the lower steady state.

So he throws out the reward for cooperative game action -- higher total resource productivity -- to see if social cooperation spontaneously develops. The experimenting sadist is loving the show.

Now the question really is -- is the incentive really high enough to develop a social movement/organization? Or perhaps will someone take on the project for it's own rewards? (I kind of think Nad did this for awhile with MB's water resources). It might become an inter-land competition of sorts.

On the other hand, the role players and scholars in the group will see the model to Earths actual eco system, and take something different from the episode.

This is how MD works, folks.....

I see nothing wrong with setting up an alt for target practise by others -- as long as the character you are putting yourself into (aka your "main") is completely divorced from it. Fyrd Argentus's body was essentially sacced to that.

It's not appropriate to say "this alt is the fighting spirit of my main, reaching out from the grave...." etc. You are then taking onto yourself magic powers via alt abuse.

I will face similar issues with Fyrd Argentus/Alyzer -- but I am making a clean break between the two. Argentus will remain only to administer prizes from his old quests. Attempts to influence Argentus by talking to Alyzer, or reward Alyzer for Argentus's work, will be met with feigned confusion.

Fyrd Argentus reacted to Chewett in Did you know? - Jail
Over the past couple days iv had a lot of questions and in both chat and PM form about Jail. Why can people escape? Why are they allowed to play? Why are they not just banned? and i thought it might be interesting for me to post the responses on the forum.

What is the difference between Jail and Banning?
The main difference between MD and other games is that there are two primary punishment methods. Jailing and Banning. If you are Jailed you are sent to the jail scene and marked as a convict. If you are banned you cannot play, cannot login, cannot do anything.

In MD's history very very few people have been banned, the preferred mechanism for punishing people is jail.

So why have two methods?
When you are banned you are essentially not permitted to play the game. However when jailed you can still do a large number of actions, including escaping, sending PM's and still being involved in the world. Being sent to jail can just be part of your character and a number of players have successfully woven this into their characters history. Jailing a character allows them to continue to do what they were, and gives a much larger range of actions than just being banned. Jail as a punishment is the exclusion from the main "outside" world, many people treat jail as a ban, and dont bother logging on, but a smaller subset has roleplayed their being in jail, given jail "reports" on the forum or escaped and continued to play.

Jail is so easy to escape!
Over the past years iv seen numerous convicts stating that "Jail is so easy to escape" rather smugly, as if it is some achievement. Its humorous to see that they dont know very much about it. Jail is designed to be relatively easy to escape. I didnt understand why it was so easy to escape until i talked to Mur about it and being able to escape fits in perfectly with letting people "play" while being punished. If we wanted to, we could easily stop you from escaping it, and if we wanted to go all the way we would just remove jail completely and ban you. But thats not what MD is about. MD is different.

Just like resetting the GoE piller combinations, methods to escape the jail have slowly changed so that they are not entirely widespread, It keeps it as a level so that people need to do some work to work out exactly how to escape. But the likelihood is, at least while im around, there will always be a way to escape, provided you are smart enough to work it out, and have some friends to help.

If you are sent to jail, you can wait out your sentence, or attempt to escape knowing you are going to be in there longer if you are caught. To add more roleplay value there is now the fugitive system so that people could be "caught" if a number of people want to send you back to jail. Its all about having something unique, giving players the ability to change their own fate, become that criminal that keeps getting sent back to jail. or someone who is evading the law to prove their innocence.

----------------------------------

If people like this sort of thing, i might post some more up when i get a bit of time. Some of the design decisions, and lore of MD is interesting, and it appears many people have forgotten, or never heard of some of the genius behind MD. So comment if you are bored/like/dislike this so i can get some feedback

I loaned Fang my pickle jar because he is using (at least some of) them to help new visitors to the realm and I felt guilty that I was not keeping up with demand. He ought to be able to make about 6 a day the hours he logs, where I'm making 1.

I'm at 47 pickles held (yes, prizes continue), but should have been up around 75. Zzzzzzz. I'm also behind on answering PM's.

It is an act of faith, appreciation for his efforts, and hopefully in the best interest of the realm.

When the day comes when I ask for it back, he will have the chance to show his appreciation for my trust.

Signed, the one and only Pickle Meister.

p.s. Once he caps out - which could be in less than a week - he'll have to burn 'em to make 'em, so I don't consider that an abuse. It's part of the job -- especially if he burns them to go rescue people.
p.p.s. - Thank you all for your concern.

The point, I believe, is that you're really supposed to take the role of ONE character and stick with it, baggage and history and all. If you do a reset, or do experiments, or take another role for any reason, etc. you must keep the roles absolutely isolated from one another. You're not supposed to use any sort of unintended aspects of the computer system, ie stepping outside the game, to influence the game.

That said, there are a billion fuzzy grey situations that arise, and many people push the limits and find new ways to raise questions. If you find a new one, you'll become notorious, but not necessarily automatically banned. Depends more on how you handle it (report it or try to exploit it) more than the fact of your discovery. Help fix a loophole and you may get rewarded.

Put me on the list as helpful if pedantic, boring and thinks he's funny.

I don't see how this is cheating in the least. Dark made a wish for CoE to be reinstated and this wish can only come true based on votes -- a popularity contest as you will. Thus it makes sense to ask people to vote for your wish does it not? How is that cheating?

The Council speaks: ... We want PERSONAL requests so wanting an item "to help the community" will not be accepted. This is your chance to be selfish. ...

I have the feeling that the voting system is not working here because most of the selfish wishes got a badly feedback from the community disregarding the Councils statement. One can see the same in the final wish voting topic. Most people vote for friends or for wishes they will somehow have their own advantage from. The only thing I would like to bring on the table is that the whole "wish thing" moved away from the original intention (as I understood it) to be selfish for once.

Have a nice day all.

I would like the ability to summon people to Angiens Shrine.

It would have 4 casts (unable to be put onto a stone).
Only able to cast on one person.
The caster must be standing at angiens shrine for the spell to work.

This is because we now have access yet we cannot yet easily bring players so that we can talk to members there.

All adjustments to the spell are welcome, since it is a powerful summoning spell i have detailed the numerous limitations in an attempt to balance the item. I would ask players to vote for this idea so that we may all learn more about, and recruit some angiens to be our fighters.
How about a "trace" item you hand to somebody, then later they "use" it and they teleport to your current location, you get back the item. Wouldn't be all that different from a temporary "jump to leader" so not earth-breaking in terms of play-balance, but very useful.
