    Just to clarify sthg..I never said that we suddenly should reject the system as it is now (gather ingredients +WP).
    On the contrary "special" items should still be created this way (or given to players with a particular role).. what i am suggesting is an add-on, or an enhancement if you prefer. There is a huge discrimination between "Knator Commander's sword" or "Woodin's seal fragments" (and nobody with a common sense can expect to craft such items out of raw material), and a "flute" or "a plow".
    And why would someone pay silver to craft a "flute" if not to support his role as musician, or a "plow" if not to support his role as a farmer for example..I wouldn't waste silver to pretend sthg that i am not..And again i want to stress out that we are not talking about "the flute that sings on its own" or "North's flute given to him by the 3rd brother of Khalazdad" but for just a "flute"..Plain as that
    In addition to that there is a system to prevent abuse between alts as far as creatures are concerned. The same could apply for items..
    Anyway..just a suggestion

    Ok i want to state my opinion too regarding this issue..I voted Yes and yes..And i want to explain the reasons..I think Burns (and i guess others as well) attitude in this case is wrong..the "a priori" condemnation of anything new and potentially interesting and the attachment to the "old" system, does not help this game to evolve. It is clear that the "item" system (among others) as it is now it is completely unfunctional and wrong.

    SO we are acknowledging the facts but we're not doing anything to change them.. Crafting items from raw material is an idea that could work.. and we are not talking now about the "magical sword that takes souls" out of raw material:blink:...
    But alot of things can be made out of wood,iron, ore for a price..From a sledgehammer to a wooden cottage who knows..Imagination people (i guess i made it clear that i dislike the term "standard items " as well)..What will be the use of this items..well only rp-ing comes to mind now..

    So a store somewhere in MD (lands of the east for example does nt have to be MB for everything) where you can buy raw material for silver and the ability to craft an item from raw material (for silver again and not WP)...Why not?

    Perhaps it would be a good idea for the crafters to make also standard(simple) items (from raw materials) for silver coins,
    beside the special items (from raw materials and standard items) for the wishpoint

    What do you think ?

    I think that the problem really is that the current system is inherantly flawed.
    Realistically if you want stone, you go to a mason, not wander about looking for some random person with a stone. If you want leather or hide, you go looking for person that sells that.
    That coupled with the fact that item materials are given to people for free and then can be used as a means for profiteering.
    Perhaps we could have shops (or designated persons) that can sell raw materials? Maybe even a shop in each land to represent the things found there?
    For instance, Loreroot would have a supply of timber and animal hides. Golemus, would have stone and maybe precious stones too. Necrovion could perhaps have sand and bone. MB has an underground, so perhaps precious stones or metals there?
    You get the idea.
    Anyway, each shop would perhaps regenerate the raw materials over time.
    This way items could have set prices and more fairness. The prices could even fluctuate according to supply levels.
    Granted it would still be possible for some people to try buying these up, but even then there would be more available and you could even try to limit the number of any one item you could purchase in a month say.

    I can think of an option but it would have to be implemented by Mur.

    Certain items would have to be classified as "Raw Materials". After each transfer of a raw material item it will have it's age reset and it will age just like creatures age currently. Once it reaches a certain age (perhaps 90 days) it has a negative effect on the character (a percentage drop in AP and Exp Points or a reduction in Attack and Defense). Multiple items will have a cumulative effect so item hording (for raw materials at least) will not be as prevalent. If an item is not traded or used in some way by another date (perhaps 180 days) it will disappear from their inventory. Wood rots, metal rusts and gems can be pick-pocketed. If the items go to a central vault to be randomly distributed among players will keep the items moving around and reduce the costs that players with many items can set because they have created a reduction in the supply of items. If items can't be traded to alts then the system should be fairly stable once the appropriate age and damage have been determined.

    well, we most defently can't force those players to trade, it's their stuf, so they can decide what they do with it.

    one more question: Does a raw material dissapear when it has been used for item creation(should be logical), Cause there should be an easier way to obtain materials, what about a material shop or so? and a few secret ways of obtaining them, perhaps a few items that allow you to obtain it(let's say, a pickaxe to obtain ores, a furnace to make bars). it shoulden't be done easily, for me it could even be all player based, tell the item creators what you have done with it, and if it makes sense they exchange it.

    but to come back at the essence, there should be more items, making it a bit easier to obtain items, and a bit less easy to 'hoard, and take it out of the circulation.

    I totally agree and got very pissed of this...

    Dont you have better things to do in your life than keeping hold (or asking RIDICULOUS prices) for items that others could turn into something usefull?

    Personally, I think more raw materials could be a good solution...
    Or just removing item owners list? since its pretty pointless imo, it just make people wanting to get on the top of it, and beeing egoistic shouldnt be rewarded with a top place in a list

    hmmm so... there are no standard requirements and the raw materials are too hard to find and too expensive to get...

    Well ok it's understandable for special and new items to be like that but I think a crafter should also make a list with some standard items that he knows how to create
    and in time fill it with the new types of items he invents or creates for others

    As for the raw materials I think North is right there should be a shop for the standard raw materials (wood, steel, ...)

    Perhaps it could be restocked weekly with random supplies in raw materials at random time and allow each player 1 material transaction per day)

    there are many of us with raw materials that are perfectly willing to sell them, provided we get a decent price for them. for example i will sell any of my raw materials as long as you are willing to pay 30 silver for it, if you want to see my reasons read my post on the topic discussing the raw materials

    Ok i understand how things work...But shouldn't there be a place in MD -a shop perhaps- where someone could buy raw materials in order to proceed in crafting an item??..depending solely on a specific item holder's mood , or his overpriced needs is absurd!

    A cloak of yellow and green, when worn in a forest you may shimmer, unseen.

    I think that it would be interesting if it was usable as in could grant invisibility inside loreroot perhaps

    I've been wanting this since I joined MD

    to the topic, I will start with my own item, Ritual Knife. Not sure what spell would fit it, but could you allow it to sacrifice my creatures without using an altar? not that I can use it in a good way like that tho... it would lead to alt abuse so not for that ability (i just mentioned it cause it fits the desc).

    a suggestion, I was planning to mention two items in my future quests (will post the central data for current progress soon), seeing stones (made of those stone tablets if any of you remember), based on LoTR palantirs, it would allow people to see the location of the owner of second seeing stone, perhaps something more too

I could make an item to sacrifice a creature but the sacrifice reward will have to be calculated entirely different and THAT could lead to abuse or inefficiency. Both items functionality is far from i can do effectively right now but i will keep them in mind as possible ideas for later. Provide a more detailed and well balanced plan for the creature sacrifice idea and i might do it on the ritual knife.[/color]

    perhaps deleting the ability to gain any temporary points when saccing with the knife (that would erase
    possibility that I would use it for alt abusing-i wouldnt anyway, but I plan to give suggestions so you dont
    have to rely on my word), but in my opinion, it should have increased max VE for every creature that gives it by certain
    percent? (I wouldn't dare to say 100%, but lets say 50% more gained max VE? so lets say creature X gives 400
    max VE upon saccing, now it should give 600), cause it's a ritual knife and by saccing a creature I give its
    vitality to me.

    I also have drachorn scales... it says it fire-ressistant, dont know how will that be useful unless
    fire-related spell makes it way out. so no idea about that one yet except maybe defense aura of increased def
    stats to plus (random number) 300? or percent of my defense? or increase drachorns defenses? not sure about
    that one...


    about the Seeing stones (palantirs), locating spell would fit its role perfectly
    I dont know what earfocus does, tho. Anyway, they should be more detailed and revelead in one of my (and my
    "quest company" ) later quests, when I finish those I will post the link here (or post the link via message
    to you if you want). Among the mentioned abilities, can it be set that it has unlimited casts of locating the player
    that has the second seeing stone?

    Listen to this ...
    i can make COINS, gold plated (24k), silver or bronze. I mean like REAL COINS with 3d engravings and writing, just like currency coins. Diameter of about 40mm (1.56'). Problem is that i need to do at least 100 or they wont create the dies, so i cant just do a few for those that want, i must do all or none.

    I can cover a big part of the cost myself, but i wont do them without first checking if enough people are interested in this and also take preorders.


    I have a few ideas, but remember, only one of them can be made real, i can't make one of each.

    1) Matte or Shiny gold plated , marked with "1 Gold" or something similar, refering clearly to the gold coins in MD.
    2) Silver with 1 Silver, refering to the Silver coins in MD. Silver looks better than gold it seems.

    Advantages of making them currency coins with a value is that people could get more than just one.

    3) Bronze or any of the other options, with something generaly valid for MD, like log on one side and "something" else on the other (i have to think about it and it good). Maybe a thematic coin of some sort. If i am planning to make these in 100 coins series, each time i do a new series it could have the same main design but with one side changed (like Euro is in each country).

    Bad thing is that if its general , there is no reason to get more than one, and there won't be 100 individual buyers for sure.

    Other "communist" ideas:
    4)put a tax/donation/optional payment of 3-5 credits for all players and then give these as awards based on different reasons (but not to those making the credit payment).

    5)Use these both as rewards and purchased items (it wont be fair!) until i can get a second type of coin just for one of these purposes.

    Gold plating is more respectable, but in my opinion looks bad, contrast is low and if its matte its two faded (its also more expensive). Silver doesnt look like actual silver, its more like a grey (see pics) but keeps better contrast and resembles more actual coins that are in currency. Bronze is the cheapest material, and it has low symbolic value, but looks great and heavy, especialy the 3d one (thats almost as much as the flat gold one).

    Costs:
    I wished i could get these to you for free, but obviously i cant. I also have to make a price differentiation between those that preorder and those that will order later, or none will preorder at all. So i am thinking of this. The preorders will be priced at exactly the cost price. So whoever gets them with preorder will have the minimum price possible, but i can't guarantee a price because i have no idea what are transport and customs taxes exactly. So for preorder price will be a lot smaller, but might fluctuate a bit.

    Estimate price, without shipping from Romania to international:
    With preorder (actual coin cost from mint, plus shipping here, without any profit or taxes added by me) is about 7$ (+/- 1$) plus 1$ for gold matte plating (depending if thats the coin will be made or not).
    Estimate price after, without preorder, 12-16$ (includes MD profit part, handling)

    These are raw estimates, its first time i work with this provider and i have no clue what will be at the end.


    Shipping:
    They will have to be shipped here in Romania first, then i will send them to you. The shipping from me to you will be depending on location, i have no idea how much, but you can check out with your local shipping services to get an estimate quote. For more coins in same package the shipping will be almost null for the additional coins so you will get a much better price per coin if you get more. I am thinking maybe for people in same town you can join and get them all in one package to save shipping costs and then meet and get them in person.
    (In Romania you can come and get them from me if you are in Bucharest or domestic shipping charges via Fancurier, Cargus, etc)


    So, i am waiting for your opinions.
    Because this topic might get very big very soon, please write only if you are realy planning to buy. I am sure most of you have good ideas about this, but those that will actualy buy them should have a heavier word than others.

    Just my humble opinions, but a thief "role" and doing real thievery seems like a different thing to me. I don't mind RP-ed thievery, but real thievery made by scamming others, I wish not to be seen tolerated in MD.

    placing a wp at the start of the time frame is important. A new player will not be impressed by the idea that he will get somehting after ONE YEAR of playing, ...they are not sure if they will stay one day at first.

    I am also talking about WP directly not WP codes, so transfers are not an issue.
    I hope that in this way people will want more, and not consider wp as unreachable anyway. There are many that have none and stoped hoping for one.

    Alt checks , if implemented, will be very strict. Only one of the tests for example could be extremely strict, the ip check. If you are in a school or campus, you will never be able to get this reward if someone else got it first. Also the full range of alt checking is quite paranoid, so you will probably not be able to get the reward in many cases when the system things you are in any way related to the other account.

    Its big question, should alts be developed as separate characters (so yes get the wp) or should they be considered alts as they are? .. If there were not all these people that have alts to cheat or swarms of alts, this situation would be totaly different.

    AGE, in md, is the strongest sign of loyalty towards MD. You could be the worst character around, if you have a lot of age and you are still around and not baned, it means you are loyal to MD. You might not be loyal to its people, thats an other thing, but you are here and that counts. At least thats how i always felt about active days.
