Hello Guardians!

I have been thinking a little about our alliance and I decided to start a thread here to hopefully talk about a couple ideas and thoughts I had. Please, discuss them and add your own, I want the Guardians to be one of the greatest alliances out there, and I firmly believe it contains some of the best people to be found in MD. So without further ado, here are some of the things that have been floating around in my mind during this vacation time where I haven't been able to be on as much:

Activity together. I would love to spend more time together as an alliance, and show more connections with each other. Maybe this is already present and I am not much a part of it, but I want to see each member of the Guardians and know they are a friend and companion. I think contributing more to alliance chat when we are in and maybe even having some events together could build this up. I know I am terrible at both of those points, but I should try more too.

Mentorship and rank. Mya has been really good with giving me advice and helping me, but I want to be active and want to do my best in this alliance. Where do we start? Many others like me lower in the alliance may feel this way, a sort of "Well, I have my badge and maybe a little trial I am working on. Now what?"

Sort of in tandem with the above two, I would love to be able to communicate more with the leaders and those of higher rank. I want to log on to these forums and on to the game and be able to offer my ideas and talk with people. Lets be active here!
As you can probably tell by the theme of what I bring up, I love to talk and interact with people. I want to live as a Guardian, but find it difficult and end up kind of floundering around. 95% of the conversations I have about the Guardians of the Root are with new people wondering about the alliance, and not with other more established players or with other Guardians. I don't want it that way, let us be an alliance and have others envy who we are together. An example.

Ah well, I may be completely off target or just out of the loop, but hey, there it is. Hope someone enjoys the read.

Krioni

You're always welcome into sage's keep. We party there 24/7 :)

To be honest, though, I agree with what you have said. Alliances might mean different things to different people, but "oneness" should be part of that criteria, along with "unity". Maybe go for some more structure? I don't know.

I fail in understanding private forums. It was originally my intention for it to be there, failure on my part. I thought since it was the Guardian forum, ah well. But maybe these thoughts apply to more than just the Guardians, and while I want them to be the best (no offense other guys) I don't mind seeing improvement with others. So maybe it isn't all bad that this is public. If anyone reads it and wants to share their opinion and it doesn't apply to the Guardians, feel free to do so!

If the forum is hidden, it will usually include (Hidden) in the title.

I will remember for later!

Long introduction above to serve as base for the question: 'Do you want lands to be more closed than they are now? Do you want borders/walls or do you want more inclusion?'
I'm asking because I remembered my 6-year old idea about buildable gates and I wonder if that is a good idea. It would make lands more 'closed' and create centers of authority once again. Is it good to build walls or should we wait for enlightenment in a global village?

I was thinking the other day that if quests are to be a constant part of MD, there's a need for a system. I don't know what is the plan for that, so I'm just forwarding my idea for it and hope it doesn't conflict the plan.
      Q. How does one create quests?
      A. One completes a form with two fields: one specifying the quest details (and if there is addressed to someone in particular) and one explaining why the quest should be accepted (meant to convince the reviewer). The form is reviewed by a Quest Ranger, who then either declines or accepts the quest. Accepted quests are posted on the Quest Page, which serves only as a bulletin board if the quest is not intended to all.
      Q. Does a Quest Ranger have to explain his/her decision?
      A. No, although they can send a message with the reason (too many quest points given, not suitable for the role etc). If you created a quest and it was declined without a reason, you can ask a Quest Ranger for the reasons.
      Q. What are the rewards for completing quests?
      A. A reward is the ability of developing your role, both as quest-giver and quest-accepter. This is also the right way to justify the quest in the second field. Apart from that, I was thinking of quest points. A quest-giver includes the number of quest points awarded for completing the quest and will also receive half of that number as a quest-giver, when the quest is completed. The quest points are automatically charged into the account.
      Q. What can you do with quest points?
      A. Buy unusual rewards. Trade will still happen and 'unofficial quests' rewarding creatures, coins and items, the same. However, quest points will give you the chance to buy something that is not 'normally' obtainable e.g. a mirrorrit cast or one-time access to a location like Champions Challenge or Oak Tower int. or Accursed Growth int. etc (for example, 100 quest points can buy a key, which is a 'move_to_loc', disappearing after use).

If you have some kind of disorder and a wonder cure appeared, a miracle pill or something, would you care for why and how it works for your disorder? Would you like the miracle to exist and be happy that your pain is no more, or would you seek the explanation for how it does what it does, even if you might find out the truth you dislike, a reality you'd resent?

For a long time now, i have considered myself both a poison and a medicine to this world. Like a burning fire in the woods, i equally destroyed and simultaneously helped make room for regrowth. At times i did this knowingly, other times i did it against my better knowledge. I am here today to let MagicDuel as a community know, that it is time to fully and truly dedicate myself to the Path of Light. This is not to say that my prior attempts were invalid or simply an act to mislead, as i have been genuinely trying to regress myself back to what i once was in the beggining for many many moons now. I feel like a broken record, but every new realization also gets me closer to my goal of getting back to what i once was without losing what i have learned. It has not been easy, matter of fact most times i almost gave up from the sheer stress and shame i felt in most of my waking moments. It is in this newest phase that i have realized something, and i believe it is important enough to share publically. MagicDuel has made me the man i am today, for better or for worse. It is up to me and my limitations or lack thereof to decide which category i fall into, Poison vs Medicine. So today i place my foot down and wholly dedicate myself to being the Medicine that i believe MagicDuel deserves. MD has made me everything i am and am not, thus it has earned my full and undying respect for the 7th and final time. I will not stray from this path, so i say let the games begin.

Beggining as of April 1st 2018 and every month thereafter, i am holding what i have come to know as the Activity Tournament. For every new hour you are logged into MD (using server time) you will be able to gain 1 point towards the Monthly Activity Limit. Anyone could simply stay lazily logged in all day and gain 24 points (1 point for every hour) for said day, but that is not the daily cap. Anyone that is actually doing something (resource gathering, fighting, holding a conversation of non generic structure, etc) during that time frame will be able to gain double the points,  for a true daily point cap of 48 points. All point attempts are to be sent to me in the form of a set of screenshots over forum, 1 for every seperate hour window of game time and as a batch file at the end of each month. I say window because a SS taken @ 12:01 server time will be worth the same point chance as one taken at 12:59 server time and they can not be counted twice for the same hour window. Unless sponsorship of some sort is obtained, i can only reward the first place winner of this Activity Contest but i feel the rewards are worth fighting for. First place gets 20 credits, and remember this will reoccur every month for the top ranking dedicated MD player.

A side note: If work or school hinders your chance at winning, i might suggest using the Google Chrome mobile browser to at least attempt to (if planned appropriately) log in, harvest a resource on scene, and take a SS for maximum points. To the extent of my knowledge the Google Chrome mobile browser doesnt mark anyone as alts since it does not use a proxy (for the record, dont use proxies) but i would appreciate it greatly if @Chewett could either verify or correct that statement. If any questions arise or anything i have said is unclear please do feel free to ask on this thread and i will be happy to answer to the best of my abilities. If you do not have anything progressive or positive to state about this action then i kindly ask you not post at all but failing that realize that from this very moment on i will be ignoring all negative commentary so do not be surprised if someone makes that type of statement and it goes unacknowledged by me. Thank you for your time and have a wonderful day.

About 2 weeks ago, I went a mail to the council with a question concerning avatars/item drawings drawn with a pen tablet.
I was wondering if pen tables should be used for avatars or not.
My opinion about it was, that it shouldn't be a problem, but I got a reply that said the opposite:
All submitted artwork should be made with pencil and scanned in. Pen tablets should not be used. Not only does it provide consistency with the art in game, it also provides an added surety that the artwork is indeed belonging to the person submitting, rather than found elsewhere on the internet.
Now I must say I do not agree with what the council said.
First, I think consistency with the art in game should not be a problem with a pen tablet, as there are a lot of possibilities with it.
And also, it is as easy to trace an image with pen and paper, than it is with a pen tablet. (as I think that is their

It's just a virtual paper, and a virtual pencil, I personally don't see the big problem here.(I also made a reply, saying this, but I did not get an anser yet)

Now I'd like to ask the opinion of the community, to see what other people think about it.

      Should a tablet be allowed?
      Why, why not?
