Why does everyone seem to think that this will take barely any effort? The effort that it takes depends on the other participants. In a poetry contest, if all of the contestants write their poems in under five minutes, then they put in barely any effort. Look up copywriting for a profession that is all about writing high quality 50 characters or less snippets of text.

When I play text-based roleplaying games (where people type commands and actions) I often spend hours on a character description that's only 4-6 sentences in length. After I'm done, I continue to refine it as I play the game. This is the same, except it's a description of a land.

I do think that the first place contestant should only get a wishpoint if their description merits it. Sadly, the only suggestion that I can think of to determine this is to have the judges (for there need to be judges. I agree that public voting is a no) say if they think a description merits one. I say sadly since it seems that everyone is biased towards poetry or more longer pieces of prose. I just hope that, if this method is used, people will recognize a great description when they see one.

I would like to participate in this quest, but I'm not sure if I'll have the time for it yet, so I'll hold off my decision until a bit later.

Azull, don't be a drama queen. It doesn't suit you. Really.
Don't blame the whole land for something a member has done. Not to mention he used IN GAME resources and not some sort of bug or anything NOR did he break any rules. As for the alleged master mind...this is all morals and if YOU, as Necro, start to complain/care about morals then Necro is doomed.
If you blame the whole land then you're denying them the right to individuality. That is defo not right and in my eyes a bigger crime than you can imagine (not that my opinion matters in this but that's why we have the forum - to express opinions about everything :P).

Also, have you talked to their King about your issues? (they do have one and he is your equal so it's not like you would not want to speak to him because he's an inferior)

People of Marind Bell,

Two of your fellow citizens set out to destroy the Necrovion alliance. And what did you do?
Did you try to stop these scoundrels? Did you try to reason with them? Did you voice your objections to this uncalled for act of agression?
No, you supported them. Some of you silently, some with words and actions..
It seems you have forgotten the lessons of the past. We will teach you once again the folly of your ways.

Aquellia got a reaction from Esmaralda in Pickaxe minigame
I visited Necrovion recently and found myself in 'The scene at the bottom of the vale of oblivion' and A thought struck me almost instantly... There was a lack of Pickaxes...

But more than that, there was the feeling that a pickaxe alone wasn't enough, I felt the need to play. A game of sort, not sure which entirely but just a small game.

There's a small clicky in the scene on one of the rock faces. The perfect place to find a mining mini-game. Of course you couldn't play a mining mini-game without a pickaxe, so best pick that up first so that you can play. But don't forget safety, you can't take the pickaxe off of the site so best put it back before you leave.

The mini-game itself is just going down to the mine to try and meet the daily quota. The problem is a little while back the mines collapsed and most of the tunnels are blocked. It takes a while to mine each section and the working day doesn't last forever. So you have a limit on how many sections you can mine each day. And if you don't meet the quota it's game-over.Occasionally you might find yourself mining out a blocked tunnel, letting you mine in the new area.

Technical details:
The pickaxe is a pick-able item that while held blocks exit from the scene.
If anyone would like to inform me of the exact scene name I'll edit it in.
The mini game it self will consist of a grid containing a randomly placed series of rocks. Which may or may not contain ore. Each ore contributes to the daily quota to keep going in the game. If they meet the quota they can continue to the next round. (Getting a better reward at the end) If they fail the quota the game ends and the loose the pickaxe and it won't appear again till it's reset time (daily/weekly). THIS MEANS 1 GAME PER RESET. A single rock on the grid will lead to a new location when found (instantly or the next day, whichever is preferred) effectively resetting the grid (With higher percentage of empty rocks but maybe also better value ore too). The reward itself can be in the way of temporary stats or boost. Or if felt worthwhile enough perhaps an item/resource which is attainable by all but not common? Memory stones, pickles or anything that seems correctly valued. (the game would need to be made and tested first to value an appropriate reward) As the game is primarily grid based the input may be done with co-ords in text box, drop down lists or single tick lists or anything along those lines.

Coding the game itself:
I thought Chewett might enjoy it when not doing other work and looking for something fun to do. (no rush) Or perhaps others may volunteer, but Chewett gets the first say. I could code the game alone in c# on windows forms, xna or cmd. But I don't know how to use MD script or make something that will work in a clicky. The pick-able item shouldn't be much of a task nor the blocking exits while it's held. (I'd suggest a way to put the pick-axe down without playing too so people don't get stuck)

Other bonuses:
There's very few built in challenges around MD and they only work once. This would allow random placement thus easy repeatability. Think of it like adding a daily/weekly challenge for people to enjoy. At the very least to me the location will feel more complete.

Apologies for the mid post interruption, I was invited to a party and given 30 seconds to get ready...

Could this not be done using 2 clickables, and the new features letting them be shown/hidden based of inventory items? When the right inventory items are held it will hide one and show the other. This would give the appearance of a clickable with more than one stage. Other items can increase the number of stages, each one being a new clickable but only shown with the right combination of held items.

A Human Cannon! (actually not only for humans but large enough to fit any MD character..)
The thrust is vapor based so a supply of lumber and water will be needed to activate the device.
Activating the device will fire up the player in the air to a random location with Sky visibility. :D

(a skill limited sketch of such device that could fit on a GG landscene or for ease of accessibility on Old Mans Road)

Features Used: Progressive Combiner, Chase (or teleport..idk..)

Notes on possible improvement:
1.Control the distance of the throw by having diferent values of water and lumber supplied.
        2. If the activation of the combiner would give some stat (skydive) players with a high level could try to land on a specific area (GG..Necro..etc.) still very random.
        3. For safety reasons player Must wear (have in inventory) a helmet that can be found in some scenes.. :P

you responded with

That is enough. You clarified to you meant no insult by it. I have no more quarrel with that.

Referring to my first post "I don't understand how this is an insult?"
I have simply stated how in my learning of the English language I have interpreted the comment. I checked Rumi's location and as it is US I would expect his to have been very similar.

I think you have misinterpreted the regionalism, the Importance should lay in the region of the person who said the comment. It should be as they intended it to be. Your region may interpret it otherwise, and you have clearly taken offense to it. I am attempting to clarify it's meaning so that despite what region you may come from you can read the comment as it was intended.

Of course the only way to know how it was intended is to ask Rumi, but with his absence it should be taken as the language depicts.

"Did it ever occurred to you that everyone responding on this topic to tell me that I am wrong are actually insulting me ?"
No. It did not, It also still has not, and I personally have not told you; you are wrong. I am not going to look to see if anyone else has, but if they have then it is to you, to bring up such matters with them. I'm sure they didn't intend it as an insult if they did do so either.

No not at all, in the example you gave though, to have said "your thinking like" rather than "You think like". Would change it from being an insult.

How you have said it is to imply I have only that element, whereas "your thinking like" describes something that I've done.

It also applies to the original post; The comment describes an action you have taken ("Overgrazed"). To have simply called someone a stupid cow would be very different matter.

There are too few of us, or at the very least, most of us are not doing anything particular.

Let's build something happenings will revolve around.

Torch competition with rewards system implemented (and not for them to stay on hold for years like the last time!) and simple mechanism for everyone to be able to give their part is one of the answers.
It will stimulate mainland activity, people will start working together and will appreciate their lands more, this all stimulates realm's life itself.

Perhaps Torch is not a fitting manifestation for the realm to revolve around in Mur's head, but we have been passive for several years. Let's change that.

In particular the "What we have now is a statement that says "This is what you do". Not "are doing" or "have done", but an absolute "do". By your own argument, this would qualify it as an insult." which meets my (presumably) insane concept of insulting.

Also I don't take insanity to be an insult in anyway regardless of weather it is intended.

Yes dst that is what I mean. If someone did something and you said it was a stupid thing to do that is not an insult, but if someone did something and you said that they are stupid that is an insult.

Technically you would still be insulting the thing that they did... but until that thing they did comes and complains about it I don't think it's relevant.

The difference is insulting the action or insulting the person.

A good example would be "Your thinking narrow mindedly" (not an insult) and "you think narrow mindedly" (an insult)

Do not take this exclusively though. You can word things so as to imply the insult anyway, or use tone or actions to do so. The most common example would be insulting someone with sarcasm.

Ackshan Bemunah

"Have yet to produce any meat or milk"
This is an expression, one I've heard used often in its context. It points out a lack of valued produce. An in game comparison would be the actions, or lack of actions.

"You" is not specified to be singular or plural, both aspects can be taken (referring to No one, or referring to him and companions.)
It may or may not be directed specifically at No One. (Just to ensure both possibilities are made aware)

"IT IS addressed TO ME directly ."

Yes, although it is addressed to you directly it follows by saying that you "have overgrazed..." referring to an action you have taken. The comment of stupid cows refers to this action, not yourself.

As in:
"The thing you have done is like what a stupid cow would do"
not:
"like a heard of stupid cows you are"

"yet to produce any decent milk or meat" is simply stating that Rumi does not think you have produced anything worthwhile. The later part "instead you have provided this load of infertile bull****" is referring to something you have produced which Rumi thinks is bullshit.

None of which is insult. None of it says that you are anything. All of it it does though refer to something you either have or haven't done.

I continue this only because I feel that the language used has been misinterpreted and I wish to enlighten you of other potential meanings from it.

I would kindly ask the you refrain from being rude (for lack of a better word) towards chewett for being informative.

The need for you to rephrase the comment alone is enough to suggest that there is a good chance you may have misinterpreted it.

(British) English is an odd language, and if you are going to argue some point, you really want to include reasoning in case its a regional thing. Same as Nim pointing out cows being sacred.

As for the insults, thanks no one.

In the UK, to call someone stupid, is an insult.
But to say that something they did is stupid, is not considered one.

The subtle difference, makes all the difference.
