Maybe some advice for the future Chew:

If you are going to be having a long conversation and trying to explain a point that will take more than ingame text will allow, move the conversation to somewhere private. This way you can write out and clearly explain everything in one long post, so the other person won't be able to get frustrated half way through and run off before you can finish your point.

As there are no right or wrong answers to this, I do like that idea of rewarding people for taking the time to participate in this. I was thinking that maybe instead of just rewarding a random person out of all of the good ones, we give a reward to everyone that makes a really educated response to this. The reward could be a silver coin to every person with an educated response to this "quest" of mine.

See, the whole reason I am wanting to do this, is so that I can get an understanding of the way that people on here think. I'm wanting to make a themed quest much like Fyrd's pickle quest. Something that is big and takes the players throughout the realm undertaking certain puzzles and riddles. I'm wanting to make something pretty big and detailed but I also don't plan on it being completed for quite some time. I'm still thinking up the story for it at the moment, but I am hoping to get the story down soon. Then I will try to implement by the time that the theme runs around. If that is too far out then I will have it finished by that time next year. It will be more holiday themed so I want it to start during the holiday that it represents, but I also want it to be a long lasting quest that won't dissappear just because the holiday goes away.

Also, I would like to thank you Mur for taking the time to give a response to this "quest" of mine. I was under the impression that no one was interested in it and that it was going to go ignored.

I do not remember how I came here to be honest. That was 7 years ago and I was just about to start college. I do know that I found the concept to be interesting and enjoyed seeing all the scenes. I am still waiting for more scenes to be made and areas that say in progress to be finished. I believe I am sticking around just to see how those areas will turn out. If they ever get finished.

Hello, fellow Magicduel Players, I'm Vertu Honagan and I have an inquery into your minds that I would like answered. I'm planning on making a pretty decent/big ingame quest soon and I would like to pique your minds for a little preparation. Last time I made a quest, I made an impossible riddle, my way of thinking is way too different from a normal person, and I would like to see the way you all think. This way I can make challenging puzzles, riddles, and mini-games, without making anything impossible. As I do not feel there is a right or wrong answer to this, I do not feel it can be a quest with rewards. As there are no winners or lossers in this, however if someone feels that it should be a quest and wishes to give rewards for it, then by all means have a public judging on the best answers and turn it into a quest. For now, however, it shall only be used for my own information.

Here is my task to you all:

I want you to take your favorite Magicduel creature, it can be any creature in game, whether you own it or not, and I want you to give me a paragraph on that creature with these things included:

    1. Tell me the reason that you chose this creature

    2. Tell me what you believe the creatures role is in Md, and it's reason for being.

    3. Tell me why you think it has the abilities that it has and what part of your being allows that creature to use said abilities. (As MD creatures are apart of our being, some part of ourself has to have been used to create this creature. Tell me what that part is and how it affects the creatures looks and abilities.)

That is all the info that I should need. Thank you and have fun with this. :)

VertuHonagan reacted to Jester in A new kind of Quest
This Quest is trying to be what a Quest could be, with the entire community working on and enjoying it. It will have a puzzle, role-playing, and most importantly, a story. A story that continues after the first quest is over. A story that changes based on the decisions made by the questees.

    People Needed:
    Organizers: Eara
    Writers: Maebius
    Coders: samon
    Puzzle creators: Vertu?
    Explorers: Syrian
    Treasure Keepers: Pipstickz?
    Misc: Ackshan

This will be my final attempt to do something worthwhile in MD, but its not about me. I just happen to be the one to get it started, since nobody else was going to. If it succeeds it could mean reasons for new players to stay with this amazing game instead of seeing empty lands where people battle for no apparent purpose, occasional chatting and nothing more.

I think this is all very possible for the people of MD to do AS A COMMUNITY but I'll need your help.

If you're willing to assist, mention so in the comments section, what your favorite part of MD is (exploring, questing, combat, research, writing, etc), and what you can contribute. Its possible that you can contribute without even knowing it, hence the question about your favorite part of MD.

Please, not for me, but for the Community of MD as a whole, give this a shot.

I really like this idea, but I think a non Virtual document would be best sent out as a picture. Something that the player can print out using either their home printer or some printer at a library, etc. This way these docs can be held in the players hands without adding a lot of additional cost to production from MD.

VertuHonagan reacted to Muratus del Mur in IMPORTANT - Future way of granting titles/roles
I will present step by step ..something.. that will start to take shape slowly and will be a major shift in how the social structure, tags and roles will be acknowledged as official. This is intended as a major thing in MD, but one that i am hoping to complete how things are functioning now and not change them too much.

Roles/tags are earned through your constant activity and sometimes awarded on special occasions.

Currently there is nothing except the tag and description and occasionally an announcement that makes the role official...what else could it be..my, or councils "word" is enough. Well...here is where things will updated a bit.

At some point in MD history, the Council operated by requireing just two votes of its members. In case no other member objected to the voted matter. Keep this in mind for now.

I want to delegate council/my authority of giving roles/tags to people such as land leaders (Kings and Queens) and maybe to people that hold well known roles for a very long time. It is difficult to explain what i want to do, but the concept is simple. I will try to detail it slowly, by answering your questions and soon i will provide more detailed info.

Tags/Roles will be called Titles from now on. A Title can be granted by a higher authority, such as your King, plus one additional authority, for a start that will be myself.

Remember the "MD Diploma / Fancy Legacy Box" topic i posted recently, where i wanted to create fancy documents to send out to people and prepare seals and all the associated materials? It received a negative vote from the community (at least in my opinion), mainly because there are other more important things to do and because there are no funds to do such a "crazyness" at this point. However I will do it, in an adapted way.

For now we will discuss this as if they will be VIRTUAL, its simpler that way for now.

Lets try to see if you understand the "layout/structure" of how titles will be granted:
Me, Muratus del Mur, -> insert fancy titles here <- will create a limited number of pre-signed blank documents that represent my authority as one of the leaders of the lands in MD. I will give these documents to other high authority characters in MD, for example the kings or other important roles. Now...that means i am blindly trusting the person i am giving such a document to, that they will use it wisely. Lets say a King holds such a blank title document. This king will be able to fill in details about a title he wants to give, only under the scope of his own authority (only matters that involve his own land). LHO leader holding such a blank title document, could fill it only with a title under his own authority...and so on.

So far this is clear? makes sense for you? questions?

These titles once signed by both me (already) and the second authority (king, important role, etc) will be given to a player, granting him that title FOREVER. My intention is that these titles will be created in such a way that they will never "expire". This is same concept as the King crown medal. Once you become king, you receive that crown, and it will remain yours forever regardless if you are still a king or not. In the same way, these titles will remain yours forever, without an expiry date. What will happen if two people have two conflicting titles? ...here is a big change... BOTH are valid, but the person with highest active days/activity percentage (or other factors maybe?) will have higher power, controlling the grated role/title.

Ok..don't panic, this involves a lot of things, i am aware of the majority of them...and i am aware things will change, but i see this change as a complementary thing to how my vision about md is. Activity defines your influence...dead and forgotten people should not be able to actively USE titles, but should still hold them forever because at some point they earned them.

THIS WILL APPLY ONLY FROM NOW ON....this is totally unfair, i know, but giving titles backwards it will be a total mess. However..any ancient role that becomes active again might receive his "Title" document. I might do an exception to king roles because they are very important and very few..maybe one or two other roles, but thats it.

I said to consider these docs "virtual" .. maybe i will make items for them for now...but i want you to know that i am planning to make them actual printed documents (signed, fancy paper, gold finish and all the bells and whisles), and have them ready before this new concept will be fully integrated.

This subject is open for debate, i will listen to both pro and contra opinions, but i will "fight" for this to happen, even if it requires significant sacrifices. I am however prepared to change my mind if somehow there are aspects of this that will prove to be to stupid or unrealistic...so feel free to challenge this matter if you don't agree to it...but also state your support if you like it. (Hearing positive opinions will make me do things faster and better :P )

VertuHonagan got a reaction from Muratus del Mur in Build your own Drachorn
As I am a firm believer in everything being an option for everyone so long as they take the time and effort to unlock them, I believe that yes it is a good idea for Drachorns to enter the realm in this way. At least in this way you are encouraging players to not only play the game, but also create real life designs of in game creatures. You could also incorporate this into the story mode as a way of teaching players how to look into the current challenges page on their own and see all the current active quests.

As to the question in the announcement about permanent quests:

I personally feel as though permanent quests are the best kind of quests and wish that there was more of them. These quests could and should be both big and small. Meaning some are such as this build your own drachorn quest and others that take you through the realm solving puzzles, riddles, and maybe even a few fights. I don't feel as though there are enough permanent quests and for someone like me that has an extremely limited time of internet access it's very hard to participate in short time limit quests.

VertuHonagan got a reaction from Chewett in Learning to Draw?
I have taken many art classes in both high school and college, I personally can NOT draw without looking at something. This right here is the best advice I could give to someone starting out:

    http://brandyroseart.com/2013/04/06/the-upside-down-philosophy/

Read that as it is exactly what I would have wrote out except I'm lazy and don't have to since she did. :P

Also I suggest practicing drawing with the picture that she used as the example as it is the same one my art teachers used.

If you are having trouble with a good eraser I would definitely use either rubber erasers for charcoal if you ever get into charcoal drawing, and white erasers for pencil. The white erasers are by far better than the pink as they do not cause smudges and removes the lead completely. The pink ones go bad after a while and start smearing on the paper.

VertuHonagan reacted to donniecesar in Head Contest - complaint
I did not participate the constest because I was in story mode. Aside from my low chances of winning, it afforded 4 prizes, so,  thought, "maybe I can one". This is very misleading.

Aside from the "elogious" words between Chewett and Constatine, it is of my opinion that the rules of the challenge count as they are made public - and it said 4 prizes in the contest's page.

Pipstickz says "the challenge is not fair", but I say a challenge with moving rules is no challenge at all. Similar shifiting rules are used in shady circumstances to punish participants, so it betrays the purpose of contending and is, therefore, not a contest. Using a hyperbolic example, if Chewett decided "the new change made in the rules say Donald Black has won all the prizes, I only had no time to say it before" people here would be having a shi*fit - they would feel stolen from their time - and they would be right. That's what is happening here; the other winners (and I refer to them like this because they are) were stolen by a piece of rules that wasn't made public apropriately by whatever reasons (because to them it makes no difference) and have all right to complain.

If Chewett denies John the audience he's asking with Mur this makes this ALL THE WORST since he has:

    1. Admitted the mistake was his;
    2. Said he'll do nothing about it;
    3. Will deny access to the resolution of a problem he has created himself, while not solving it.

It says: "Yes, I did things wrong because I had issues, but I'll do nothing about it, none of you will do anything about and if any of you tries, I'll mess it up". This is not even about the contest anymore, is about being fair.

I'm a rookie and I know many players - Chewett being an extreme case - gives a lot more time and effort to MD than me, but fair is fair. The right thing to do is to reward all winners according the the public rules, change the rules after and hold other contests in the new law. Burns, over there, said law is applied retroactively, but as far as my research led it only retrocedes in benefit of the charged - and in this case there are innocent people being punished. Put yourself in the place of the other players for a bit, ok?

Also, the restriction page, or rule page as it is, says the game provides the ability to question decisions.
Not to give people the chance to question a decision is being very authoritarian: while this happens a lot in real life and in other games, this is (alledgely) a community built game and the purpose to it is making things different and fun - and there is no fun at all in being stolen from.

Now, something to remember about the intro:

This is a multiplayer adventure game, you will find here creature fights, amazing places, secret areas, puzzles to solve, alliance collaborative play, a story that changes based on your decisions , magic spells and much much more...

Let's just hope this "much more" doesn't involve "the same stuff you hear at work and from your government and that makes you feel tired with life and people all around" - that would be very anticlimatic.

I want to complain about Head Contest. The information provided in announcement is:

This is a CONTEST! First 4 of each group will get a prize consisting in a stats, skill and credits boost and a head trophy medal!

But in reality player's need minimum 2000 score to get price.

So I ask: WHERE IS THAT INFORMATION?

I and many young players fight long time just for what?

To get the news that that there won't be any rewards for second, third and fourth place, because there was announcement about rules change.

This is misguiding people. Player's don't have strict and complete information about contest.

So what? I have to read all the Forum posts, asks players and g know what to get just the INFORMATION about it?

The is unjust and this shows sloppines which I see in MagicDuel more over the time and in many aspects.

If you want to make contest or whatever else provide strict and easily available information about it. And don't find exuces, because adding two or three text lines doesn't take weeks to do.

But what I see? That you are making us idiots.

I was fighting couple of days till the the last minute just to get information that I won't get anything.

I won't leave that and I will send complaint about it  to Mur.

VertuHonagan reacted to DARK DEMON in Favoritism
Yeah, one thing I've noticed is that those who get their roles from Mur... there's no argument about it, whereas if someone wants to create and follow a role of his own (which may even help MD later on) he gets faced with sooo much opposition from the community...

There needs to be a person like Mur, who does what the people want, or people will never get what they want and MD will cripple. Think back and you'll realize that this really is what will happen. All those favored people... is it a bad thing? Had Mur not "favored" Chew and given him code access, would MD be as it is now, without a coding Wookie whom we so rely on?

Of course, there needs to be some control (which Mur can take the responsibility for) on those people who are favored (aka given powers) too, when they do something which is disliked by a part of the community, or even a single person if it is injustice. I'm not saying control to the extent that the people can't have fun with their powers (cause that's the point), but just enough to not let them go overboard.

Favoritism is not the worst thing about Mur. The worst thing is that he leaves the people he favored to do whatever they want, aka he should control them when they begin to even slightly abuse their powers. (I have repeatedly made this a point in-game many times that vets are given too much authority in this realm and there is no one to say "no" to them.. most just support because of their reputation)

The worse thing about mur, is that he is not as sociable/interactive as he used to be. Back when I first joined this realm in 2007 Mur was the only one to ever speak to me and we had quite a few pleasant conversations. Now a days I rarely see him greeting newer players in game and have not once had a conversation with him since I have been able to come back to the realm. I also don't see him speaking in game other than to resolve issues in-game/creating new works.

Sorry I have not made a post here, I thought my post on the other topic was sufficient. I also did not feel that jail time was the correct course to take. I think that she should try to rekindle the bridge between Chewett and herself that has been extinguished. Try to become friendly towards each other, but alas, I feel that this is probably impossible now. I just want everyone to be happy and I want all of this to be done and over with. I'm so sick and tired of hearing about it that it is giving me headaches everytime it is brought up.

If Chewett wants her out and to give her a second chance and he was the one most hurt by all of this, then I feel it is not mine nor rophs place to dissagree.
