An idea for a simple cauldron recipe using one of the new second level resources. If people are interested (and it's polished some more) I'll turn it into cauldron and ask for it to be put into the game.
Warming Balm
Description: A light yellowish balm that soothes the muscles. Gives a light burning sensation when applied directly to the skin.
Effect: gives 1 AP and 400 Heat (30 uses, 300sec cool down)
Cauldron: A stove/A pan
Ingredients:
1 Essential Oils 1 Fat 1 Flower +Branches and heat to start the cauldron
Recipe:
This is a recipe for a simple balm to sooth your muscles. All you need are some essential oils, a touch of flowers and some fat. Set the pan on the fire and put the Fat in the pan and wait till it's fully molten. While stirring little by little add the flowers and the oil. Turn the fire as low as possible, just keeping the balm molten. Allow the balm to sit for an hour, lightly stirring every 15 minutes. Poor the molten balm through a sieve into a jar. Wait for the balm to cool down before using.

In general I think the fillable clickables should should still be very muh at the bottom of the production chain, followed by item combiners and finally using cauldrons to make final high level items/effects.
For one of the distilleries:
Mineral Water -> Water
Flowers -> Flower Essence
Aromatic Herbs -> Aromatic Oil
... Loreroot?:
Unidentified Plants -> Compost
A mortar and pestil:
Bones -> Bone Meal
Somewhere at the Graveyard at Berserker's Charge:
Bones -> Headless Skeleton (Later to be combined with a skull for a full skeleton)

I'm pretty sure Necromancers from all the lands will remember this day as a milestone, the foundation of a new era.
Today, a first couple of headless skeletons were raised from the bones of the fallen.
I can't help but wonder what the future may bring: with the use of item combiners, totems and cauldrons, the possibilities are endless...

Headless Skeleton + Skull: Skeleton
Skeleton + Skin (maybe Fat too? discuss pro- and cons-): Zombie
then what, Zombie + Bandages + ... Wax?: Mummy!

Now, a Mummy could be "usable", once in a looong time, the effect being a powerful curse on all the players in the same scene  (and their families as well! ). Imagine it guarding a scene, a clickable, a treasure.

I know I'm going wild, I'm daydreaming. Please feel free to share your thoughts and your dreams as well.

The new forum is going to take some getting used to, but it does seem to have some cool features. I really don't like the layout though. But I've never been one for the oversized square style that seems popular nowadays.
I'd suggest changing the in game link to the forum to either:
http://magicduel.invisionzone.com/discover/unread/
or even
http://magicduel.invisionzone.com/discover/unread/?&stream_classes[IPS\forums\Topic]=1
To keep the rusty old vets happy (and because they seem more useful than the general activity overview)

Edit:
Just noticed the condenced view in the activity overviews and condenced is a lot better.

samon reacted to dst in A story about friendship and revenge
Almost 8 years after the story about friendship and betrayal (you can read about it here) I come to you with a story about friendship and revenge.

Yes, this is about the TW takeover. Probably most of you know that it was not a bug or an exploit that I used and probably some of you (ex necros - wow! how fun to say this :D - for sure) know how I was able to take it over.

Not to prolong the "mystery" : it was Ary who invited me in.

And now for some background: about 2 or 3 years ago I was casually playing MD when a team quest was announced. For some reason I ended up in the same team as Nimmy and a new guy called Ary Endleg (btw: it's the anagram for Legendary if you haven't discovered by now). I don't remember what happened to that quest but what I do remember is that one day my skype window popped and a guy called "Ary Endleg" added me. At first I was annoyed because I thought he was a noob :D. He asked me to guess who he was. I failed several times. He got bored and told me :D.

We began to chat and to plot things. Our mutual goal was to destroy TW/Necro/whatever resided in that land. And we set up a plan.
- Get NC citizenship
- Get in NC hidden forum
- Get in TW
- Wait for opportunity to take over TW

First 3 ones were pretty easy and went smooth. Last one was a female dog because the paranoid Necros didn't leave an open spot for the life of the Spaghetti Monster!

Yes ex-Necros! You were sooo paranoid...I had so much fun tormenting you! Remember few months ago when one of you exit the ally and I used an illusion to take on the badge? Sy got to freaked out that she used the tool to remove NC citizenship. Btw: that tool is bugged. None of you noticed that the uses didn't go down. Or...you didn't want to. I had to report it to Chew because you didn't care to. I got in that illusion several times along the years but you never seems to care or to remember. Your memory is short. Waaay too short. You should lose the hive thing :D. It damages you.

Back to the story. I started gaining enough loyalty to always be ahead on azull and have the number so in case of an opportunity to jump right in.
Meanwhile we were thinking of other options in order to get one of you out. Yes, believe it or not I cannot use illusions to take over allies. I can do other stuff but not this. And even after Chewett confirmed it you still didn't believe it. You couldn't believe that one of you was a mole. Believe it! He fooled you to the core!

The first real opportunity showed when peace announced she's leaving the game. But you were right there and replaced her with aeo. Oh well...we missed it. We moved on.

Days passed, both me and Ary and No one and the rest of what I like to call The Team went on with our lives and played MD and did other stuff. Disband one ally here, kill one player there, do a quest everywhere (this one's Nimmy :D), win some other quests and adventures, make players quit, business as usual.

Then one day (Friday evening or Saturday morning? - my mind is fuzzy cause I was incredibly tired that week-end) Ary told me that eara is leaving the ally and she'll be using "wookiee magic". That was our chance. But guess what? I slept from 6 PM until next day at 9 I believe. Poor Ary! He called, he yelled he probably pulled his hair that night. I think he cursed me more than any of you combined.
But we were lucky. Next day eara was out and the free spot was not filled in. So we acted. He invited me in, I got more loyalty than azull and then kicked ALL of ally members out.

Next step: send Mur the e-mail containing the log I pulled 4 years ago :D. That was a brilliant move (yes, I am VERY modest) I had so much adrenaline in me that I couldn't find that damn log (I must confess I am not a very tidy librarian :D). I passed Ary all the logs I had from that period and asked him to search for the piece cause I was unable to :D. He found it. I e-mail Mur and Chewett. I made the post on the forum.
And then the waiting game began.

And things happened. I haven't seen so many changes in such a short time since MD's old days. And they are not over. There are changes still to come.

And who is the one to thank for all this? Ary Endleg. He infiltrated you up to the highest level. He gained your trust. Yes, he did help you with stuff. Meanwhile he kept me updated with your moves :D. He's the best spy in all MD History!

                                                             He's the Legendary
LIBERTY
.

And now you know the reason for the takeover. REVENGE!

samon got a reaction from Maebius in Land favors (a land loyalty alternative)
In my opinion there are two major issues with land loyalty, both as it is now as well as how it used to be, namely that by only taking into account time it doesn't really mean much and that it is impossible for new players to catch up to old players due to the constant inflow of new loyalty without any outflow. Therefore I would like to propose the concept of land favors.

The idea is quite simple, just like land loyalty citizens get one favor point a day, but unlike land loyalty they are expendable and can be traded. To prevent abuse I would suggest requiring players to have at least a minimum amount of favors before being able to give favors away (or if you prefer in game arguments, the land needs to be sure you're loyal before trusting your recommendations.)

The trading part is simple, if you have at least an X amount of favors (say 250) you are able to give away any excess points in any quantity you want as quest rewards, political pacts, back alley deals, attempted takeovers and much more.

Then land favors should be usable at the capital for certain land related features. For example:
Feature (cost):
Start citizen vote for self (5) Start remove citizen vote (50) Immediately become citizen (200) Remove citizen (The to be removed citizen's favors)
TL;DR:
Old loyalty system, but you can spend loyalty on stuff and you can trade it.

I think its a joke to call it "land loyalty" anymore. I propose to either change that name or, if we want to keep it that way and fix the issue:

A player loses 1 loyalty from each land every day, except the land he's a citizen of or the land he is located on.

It makes sense to become less loyal if you don't visit a place for ages.

Hey Guys!
While this is not an entire RICA quest, It’s a prologue of sorts to the next one named Pysanka. This was supposed to be released for Christmas but due to unforseen circumstances, it couldnt be :P So here it is.

Few things to note before you start this quest:
Post your Names and Player Ids in this thread to register. Registrations End by Saturday Morning 9AM
This is a race. First person to Finish it, wins the first place. Least Time taker Wins.
The Winners will be announced after the first ten people complete the Quest or 31st of Jan, whichever comes first. So you don’t have forever to complete this Quest :
From My side:
1st place:Choice from A wishpoint/ sendtoGOC stone/2g
2nd place:Choice from whichever is left
3rd Place: Remaining Prize.
All Participants who finish the Puzzle at The Willow's shop signpost will recieve 1sc. Except for the first three places ofc :P
        5. Note every little thing. I will not repeat things if you forget to take notes.
        6. This isn’t a very long quest like a regular RICA Quest. Good luck :)
7. Quest starts on 10th of Jan - Sunday at 9am ST.

There are a few people who will not be allowed to participate in this quest for the prizes due to unavoidable reasons. You know who you are.

MAJOR EDIT: After talking to my awesome coder, I have decided to turn it into a who completes the quest in the least time Sort of thingy. If two people finish it in the same time only then will the person who finished earlier will get the reward. I will get to know your starting and ending times in the quest and the option you chose.

BE VERY CAREFUL Regarding your choices. Think carefully before choosing. Any recklessness can get you eliminated in the first part of the quest and there are multiple options that can get you eliminated. There are also multiple options in the quest that will make you wait for more time than the other choices too. So plenty of Holes. So sound advice - Be an honest Gentleman/Lady :)

UPDATE:

You are a retriever by profession and do petty to major retrieval jobs for earning your daily bread. Your most consistent customer is an organisation called RICA (Rare Item Collectors Asso.) which is known to send retrievers on dangerous jobs for items which are usually heard of in Grandma’s tales or read in dusty old books. The requisitions are always sent by a woman named *Nimrodel*. Getting further details about the RICA has been very very difficult if not impossible. On one fine sunday morning, the postman knocks at your door and delivers you a red envelope which bears a mild fragrance of roses. You immediately tear open the envelope and find a letter inside, a letter you’ve been waiting for.
      Use 'Visit' Instead of "enter" Apologies for inconveniences.
