  1. I'm assuming you're talking about how your life is unstable on the phone? Even if you are, maybe see if you can find somebody physically close by you who is willing to listen? I'd say ideally a therapist if you can afford it, and if one is available. However, I just took a psychology course that said it's really talking to someone that helps--it doesn't matter if they're an experienced therapist or not.   Know that it will get better in one way or another? I know it's kind of bad, but you can always think of the worst thing that could possibly happen and then be glad that your life is way better? I do this all the time to feel better. >.> "At least I'm not starving--" etc. I have another suggestion related to this, but I probably shouldn't post it.   Find another activity that you do have control over? If you don't make schedules and lists, maybe start? Keeping with schedules definitely helps, although I can't really talk (I've been feeling 'down' for the past few weeks as well and it's caused me to abandon most of my schedules). Make fun motivations to get you to keep with those schedules. Also, know that you're doing the schedules because scheduling is good and useful, regardless of how you're feeling. Also, keep the schedules manageable, including stuff that you already (hopefully) do, like brushing your teeth and eating breakfast. If you miss something, don't stress about it. You just didn't get the reward for that day. Um, but yeah. Schedules = good. Maybe I'll try and make some again myself.
  2. Mooved to contests/quests upon request. I can't wait for the spell!

  5. What it all boils down to is whether people want the mods to be strict when it comes to unnecessary posts and words, or lenient. So far we've been somewhat lenient. I'm guessing people want us to be stricter then? Fine by me, but I wonder if it's what everyone wants. If people don't want us to be strict, then we have to hesitate a lot before we declare something as needlessly offensive.   It causes a lot less headaches, for me at least, to moderate strictly than to be somewhat lenient.
  6.   Isn't this the same as real life? I'm all for incentives against depletion, but MD should still stay realistic. I like the fact that lots of things in MD do reflect real life. If depletion became just as hard as conservation, then this aspect of MD would be totally different from how things are in real life. It's much easier to hunt a species to extinction, reduce the amount of trees, etc., than it is to do the opposite. This is simply because it takes a much smaller time for a resource to be harvested than the time it takes for a resource to regrow.   I personally don't like the idea of tool damage from overuse. How would it fit in with MD's physics? If anything, I'd think that a tool would get 'rusty' and broken from a lack of use, not an 'overuse'.   I think a better idea would be to have the maximum resources in an area reflect the average amount of resources in an area. So if, on average, a resource is always at 0/20, after awhile the maximum will shrink to 19. To balance this out, if a resource is at its max on average, the maximum will eventually increase. The only restriction I'd put on this is a resource can't be reduced below a 1 maximum  in an area (that is, go extinct). Thus, while it's way more easier to reduce the maximum of a resource, there's a limit on the reduction. In contrast, while it's much harder to increase the maximum of a resource, the maximum can grow indefinitely. This would be a lengthy process. Perhaps the average could be taken after each tool reset? So, if some water is at 5/5 all week, at the next reset it will grow to 6/6.   Since I said that it makes more sense for tools to become rusty, this should happen with resources too. Thus the speed that resources grow/shrink at increases or decreases with viscosity. If there's an area in Golemus that no one hardly ever goes to, the resources there shouldn't grow as fast as an area in Marind Bell where people pass through every day. More heat/attention is paid to the high traffic area, and so the resources grow more as a result.   I'm not opposed to the idea of tool damage, I just don't think that it should work like this.

    stepping down

You're stepping down? :( We'll be sure to keep it hot in your absence! :)
  9.   Also, along that line, I'd really like a MP6 that functions like the leader of a pack. Right now Protectors are strongly associated with LHOs in what they do (help/guide new players). While this is great, I believe that MP6 has more potential than this. I imagine MP6 as a way for a bunch of people to organize around a leader who is working towards a certain cause. Thus, all of the adepts could be veterans. I'll most likely write more on this later.     I'm not sure. An active Protector often already does this manually. While it is a good show of their dedication, the time that they spend updating the list could potentially be better spent elsewhere. I'd personally be for it, though I'd like to hear why this shouldn't be implemented.
  10. Mur, MagicDuel might not need you in the future. Ideally MagicDuel's environment will produce a few more 'Murs' so that MagicDuel becomes self sustaining. If I were you, I'd want the genius behind MagicDuel to live on without me. However, I don't think that this has happened. There isn't another Mur yet--not even close.   MagicDuel was in a recession a few months ago. It was only staying alive because of the hope of something more, and the hope of what came before.   Now, that hope has bloomed into full-blown potential again. MagicDuel is beginning to grow rapidly, and has the potential to grow a lot more. This is only due to you coming back and revitalizing it, though. The feeling of change in the air is due to you.   I have lots of ideas for MD events that I'd like to implement when I have the time. Really, I think that what MD needs is more cyclicity. MD needs more heads contests, it needs more weekly Coloured Paper publications, it needs an adventure log. It needs quests that are run on a regular basis. Right now we have quests that are started sporadically and that can't be counted on to happen. I'm thinking of a few player-run events that can happen on a regular basis. Once I implement these, and once others do the same, MD will stay alive and will thrive.   However, it will still feel empty without you, Mur. Even if everything goes well, and there's lots of growth in MD, the question of 'Why are we here?' still needs to be answered. The community of MD still needs to understand the parts of your mind that drew them to MD before they have any chance of replicating that mentality in MD.   If you leave MD right now, it will become 'just another game' to me unless the spirit of Mur stays in the realm. Now, maybe I'm wrong and your presence will linger in MD long after you're gone. But maybe I'm right.   Your Awesomeness Cannot Be Expressed In Words   Besides all of that--you're awesome, Mur! :) I'm somewhat of an introvert and I don't naturally take the initiative in getting to know people, but I'd still love to get to know you, sometime. You should stay in MD simply because you're awesome, neat, intriguing, a Genius, and . . . because you're awesome. Ignore all of my philosophical musings above if they don't help you to realize that you're awesome. People love you for the millions of good and unique things about you, despite some of your flaws.
  11. Weird, I remember seeing this under 'Rules and restrictions'.     Like Phantom Orchid said, by posting your insults in such a public place you weren't even making a small attempt at privacy. I think of dst as the ultimate whistleblower/informant as much as I think of Eon as the ultimate fighter. I'm pretty sure that lots of people share my sentiments. dst is the player who is the most likely to come across such posts in a relatively short amount of time. In general, if anyone would come across your horribly insulting posts it'd be her. Why then, would you even think about posting such insults there?   You shouldn't be making such insults anywhere, period. Yes there is 'free speech', however owners of a place like a church, hospital, game, have the right to evict someone off of their premises if they start shouting out insults or doing stuff that they don't like.   Edit: Moved to general forum where it belongs.
  12. I know, it was just an arbitrary number. If they allow you to join them, then great. However, I highly doubt that someone will be a citizen of 4+ lands that allow citizenship with each land. Meanwhile, people have 5+ different loyalty scores as it is now.
  13. I don't know, I kind of like the idea of a 'land loyalty' vs. a 'land score'. Maybe that's just because I'm tired of games where all that matters is increasing stats, increasing scores, and not other stuff. If the current system is kept, it should be called 'land score' but the system can be changed.   What are everyone's thoughts on dual-citizenship? Each land could have a list of lands that they permit their citizens to be citizens of. So, let's say Marind Bell has Loreroot on that list and Loreroot has Marind Bell on their list. A citizen of Marind Bell would be able to apply for Lorerootian citizenship. If accepted, they'd be citizens of both lands. If Marind Bell later removes Loreroot from the list, then the dual citizen has to renounce either their Marind Bell citizenship or their Loreroot citizenship.   With this system, I think that the land score from lands that someone isn't a citizen of shouldn't count at all, or should count less. However, it shouldn't be reduced. If I have 500 Loreroot land score, renounce my citizenship, and then become a citizen of Necrovion for 300 days, I should be able to apply to be a citizen of Loreroot and regain the benefits of my 500 days there.   How would land loyalty be gained for dual-citizens? The same as for regular citizens. They'd just be able to gain loyalty for multiple lands at once. Now before you cry foul and say that this is unfair to people who are only loyal to one land and one land only, it's not, or it shouldn't be. If a land like Golemus likes citizens who are only citizens of one land, then they can not allow dual citizenship or they can favor citizens who are only loyal to Golemus. However, if a land is in favor of dual-citizens, then of course dual citizens should be rewarded. Yes, some people might get bitter because of this system. What if Loreroot, Golemus, and Marind Bell allowed people to be citizens of all three lands but didn't allow their citizens to be citizens of other lands like Necrovion? A citizen of Necrovion might get frustrated that other citizens get access to lots of land tools and they only get access to a couple at best. That's why before this is implemented, there should be many more ways for land leaders to reward loyal citizens than their are now. That is, there should be more citizenship based (and non-citizenship based) features. Now yes, if there are four lands of equal wealth, and three of them unite in an alliance, of course citizens of the three lands will benefit more than the citizen of the fourth land.   On a separate note, I'd like to see another kind of loyalty implemented. There'd be a state/country loyalty score, and a land loyalty score. The state loyalty would count the number of days that you're a citizen in the land. Meanwhile, the land loyalty would be based off of citizenship independent factors. This somewhat ties into the rebel system, where someone can be loyal to a land, but not the government of the land.

    PM's to email

Or, a simple solution would be to just email people telling them that they have received a message. The actual message wouldn't be included in the email. I think that the name of the person who has sent the message should, however. Then it's easy to ignore messages from people who you know just like to bug you.   I like the repress message feature and the email notification of new pms. :P I voted for the 'other features' option though, at least if another feature could be implemented in around the same amount of time.
