What are some specific in-realm goals of yours, things you'd like to make happen but for whatever reason haven't taken shape yet in-game?

Big or small, personal or alliance/land-centered or cubal. Preferably more concrete (not necessarily this concrete, though they certainly could be) than abstract—things you could see rather than just feel.

The question is meant as akin to a cross between this topic and this one: MD-based like Chew's, but—unlike that topic, which ended up with mostly whole-game suggestions that will take significant time and effort to balance—things here are meant to be at least loosely based on a specific person or group ("based on" ≠ "limited to"; AL events were based around certain people but preferably not limited to only involving a set group) and closer to being partially (but by no means necessarily completely) feasible by a dedicated person or group of non-coders.

Another way to put it: where would you like to take your part of MD?

Another idea: A reoccurring journey through the east. Pretty much the way Ackshan organised it. The east is the hardest land to travel through, but holds lots of interesting secrets. It could be used as a nice way to fill up for example two Days of Tranquillity, holding one journey in the summer and one in the winter.

As long as you feel the need to say something you care, otherwise you would just turn around and smile. I still care about MD, myself in it and most of the people who are a part of this "community". And even if I did say what I said in my previous post I´m always in favor of friction. Friction is needed to evolve and I know there are many different ways of friction. I just do prefer the constructive over the destructive one. I would like to see 100 people active in MD everyday. The presence of 100 would change so much. But the reality looks different and I observe that we are getting less and less. Destructive friction is one of the causes.

So I try it again. Please lets go back to the topic if there is anything needed to express.
Thank you

Just wondering: what's the reasoning behind (land and regular) loyalty not being on our public profiles along with our other stats?

As for Change's proposition, it might make things interesting in that lands' historic/current tensions could be seen in the net of who's allowed to be a double citizen in whose land. The main people I see as benefiting from this would be emissaries like certain Legend Speakers were to the main lands, but maybe if political tensions heat up more this could make things interesting. I'd favor a system wherein you get a loyalty point for each land you're a member of every [# of lands you're a citizen of] days over the proposed system, though.

I thought the event was fun. (winning was obviously nice, but that's beside the point) I think clickables in general should be low priority, but I only said that because some of them make the scenes feel cluttered where they used to be elegant. Tranquil planes, and now the view, have both had a LOT of things added to them, and in such a small space, it really does make a huge change to the scene.

On the other hand, the community aspect of the event was great, i'm glad we used glass even if I didn't have to melt any. It makes people more active, and more active people is a good thing. :)

The worst thing about Mur... was when you left.

You left a hole where a once storied (AL) realm of challenging adventures ensnared the minds of fledglings and old, forcing them to formulate (sometimes excavate) those dangerous, so very important questions that pointed beyond one's sense of self, that pushed boundaries, and that made for uncomfortable (but necessary) growth.

Thanks Mur,

And to be clear, I did not have sand or glass in my inventory yesterday.  That was entirely the community donating that.

The way I look at it is this: I had the resources and by donating them those people who had smaller amounts can hold onto them for another project or quest. Maybe that's my contribution to the community. I don't fight a lot, I don't really roleplay much, I haven't built a quest in a very long time, sometimes I'm quick to point out the bad in MD, but bringing resources to something that benefits all of us was something I could do and do very easily.

I think I wrote this in another topic but...

I think you lack followthrough.  What I mean is you announce ideas and projects and then it seems to take forever to see tangible results or worse, we see some of it but it isn't finished.

In MD I want to do something significant to the story, like search for the book of principles again using new ideas, or something more original. I have since I joined MD. Its why I joined. Sadly this looks less and less possible as time goes on, but I still want to.

your looking for 50 years projects?

maybe you can plant an oak, its an slow growing tree , i suppose it will be mature in 50 years and still where you will plant it, if you chose the right location

... building an house from scratch, seem to me that 50 years is really to long for that kink of project, should be construct in at most an few years if you take your time

thinking of some more 50 years projects
- you can go in flowers growing and try to make an new variaty .... it will take years of crosspolinating to get something that is an new kind of flower that you will want and reproduce true

- you can go in dog raising, try to make an stable new race, it take many generation to get an new and stable race that breed true, and more so to curb genetic defects of that new race in the gene pool

- you can make what most of people do, make kids ... when he will be 50 , if you are in your 20 -30 you will be probably still be around and and see your children's childrens

- take one martial arts, it will take you years of steady work and introspection to grow and master your art and body ... its an always work of self improvement , physical and spiritual

We tend to think in the short term. This is good when we need to make decisions quickly, but given the extent that we fail to look and plan ahead it is easy to say that we should make a bit more of an effort at forward thinking. Now that is all rather obvious, but even the obvious is often forgotten amidst the deluge of information and opinion that this modern world is so good at dredging up.

What am I going on about? Well, it's just that the confluence of several trains of thought have got me thinking about the long term. Again (because I'm always pondering the future and what it holds for me), but differently than before.

1) First there's the realization that even once I'm long gone there will be people who suffer and that those people matter just as much as those I can affect directly in my lifetime. I used to scoff at the mission of The Long Now Foundation. What did it matter to me what the environment and quality of life was like 10,000 years in the future? But if I'm called to do good work in the here and now, why shouldn't it last? Why should everything that gives my life meaning now cease to be meaningful once I'm gone?

2) The other thing I've been thinking about is the notion of "50-year projects", which I'll define as requiring at least a decade of work (but preferably more) to complete and undertaken by an individual (with some help, of course). I tend to work on many small projects (that most of them don't get anywhere is another story). I do this because it gives me more freedom, more variety, and also the possibility of actually finishing something for once. But I think large scale / long term projects have value as well. But I can't come up with very many examples. Here are a few:
I'm intrigued by Loper OS, one man's attempt to create a modern Lisp operating system. I don't know how long it took Christopher Alexander to write A Pattern Language but I'm sure it involved years of careful thought. I'm sure there are many constructed worlds that have been developed over multiple decades; it can be an obsessive hobby. How about building a house from scratch? Hewing lumber, clearing land, and laying a foundation is often just the beginning. MagicDuel? It's getting there. This is not a call to action. I just wanted to see if it sparked any further thoughts. If so, I'd love to read them. Specifically, are there any "50-year projects" that have inspired you? Do you have one of your own?

I'm also curious (thought 5 years might be a better number than 50 here) what some ambitious long term projects/goals in MD might be. Or are you all just living in the moment? :P

Zyrxae reacted to everyone in PM's to email
The last time I checked, (a couple of months ago) unread PM's or PM's marked as "read later" that are deleted don't show in the outgoing messages section, the sender will still think the message has been read. The point of the "supress messages feature" is to cancel a message so it cannot be read. The pm to e-mail system makes this feature pointless if the reciever clicks the lit-up envelope to find the message gone, then checks their e-mail to read the message that was suppossed to be suppressed. if a delay was added to the e-mail being sent, and the sender given a warning that they have an X amount of minutes to suppress it before it is sent via e-mail, the system would be better in my opinion.
