    Travelling Caravan of Entertainment

Greetings All Fuelled by the success of us all gathering in varied places throughout the realm over the birthday celebrations, I would like to introduce The Travelling Caravan of Entertainment! The idea of this is simple: I would like to keep a calendar of regular events of variety of interests, research talks, fight nights, puzzles, chill out and chat evenings and so on at a variety of appropriate places. Any who wish to host something or simply put forward an idea, please let me know. Let's keep the activity moving!

This is my first time coloring a scene, and I like to focus on small things, even it can be unnoticeable & time consuming. I don't exactly remember the first day of my journey, it was a long time ago...but I still remember the mixed feeling about it. It was like playing an escape room, so many puzzles and hidden messages around me, I can't wait to click everything and search for clues. but there was no one in the Paper Cabin, then I met the Shades and the little girl (in story mode)...well, little bit creepy but I like it very much, the unknown is beautiful. Also the Paper Cabin was like a safe room to me, I was extremely curious about the "outside world", but I always go back there when I feel lost. Although it's not the place for beginners anymore, it is still one of the meaningful place in MD.

Time's up~ First of all, thank you for your participation & inputs! It's more than I expected and I really enjoyed reading all the submissions. It's hard to choose coz I like all of them, especially Vicious, Aia & Ailith’s stories! I think their stories are very dramatic and more engaged with the MD theme. Also it’s interesting that Ungod’s story reminds me of a Japanese horror manga “Tomie”, and Fang actually created a love story/backstory of himself, Nava was very close to the deadline but he made it. So congratulations! I changed my mind, everyone will receive a reward~ (I should find a judge next time :P) Aia - the avatar & a colored item artwork Vicious - colored item artwork Ailith - colored item artwork Ungod - b&w item artwork Fang - b&w item artwork Nava - b&w item artwork *you can sell/trade/give away the rewards whatever u like. I will contact the participants individually via forum pm. 🧙‍♀️

Greetings One and All. Welcome to the first event of the Travelling Caravan of Entertainment. I cordially invite you to Angien's Ferry on Day 152 of Year 14, server time 17:00. The theme of the evening will be: Mirrors and Reflections. Bring any prepared entertainment on this theme: Examples could be a poem, story, art, music, research speech etc. I will prepare some things also in case they are needed. We will feast and fight until the early hours, perhaps even blessing the combat of the evening with mirror magic if those that have it will cast. Please ensure that all the entertainment prepared is MD related and in good taste. There may be rewards if there are any outstanding contributions. (The date is Saturday 1st June, from 5pm GMT)

    Birthday Cooking Quest!

Ah, one of my original recipe, discovered by accident as I terribly messed up another recipe. I present, tender roasted Grasan ribs, coated in BBQ sauce. The recipe is as follow: Ingredients: A rack of Grasan ribs, butchered into pairs A bottle of soy sauce, sold inside the Wind Sanctuary Thin foils, made out of a certain food-safe metals mined inside Golemus, manufactured into thin sheets by the little mans A fine bottle of malted goodness (I remembered of a player whose role was a pub keeper, can't recall exactly, sorry) Various herbs that you may find suitable for a rack of ribs, procured from the depths of Loreroot A big Loreroot onion Wild garlic and pepper, found outside the gate of Marind Bell A fine bottle of sauce, suitable for your taste Honey, in the forest surrounding Wasp's altar Recipe: Optional: Marinade Coat the ribs in soy sauce and add a few crushed garlic cloves. You may add any other seasonings and spices that you deem fitting Leave, covered with a thin piece of paper, so that the meat is completely sealed from outside air Steaming First, finely chop the onion and crush a few garlic cloves. Dice any additional herbs you may wish to add. Lay your ribs down the thin metal sheet, one pair of ribs per sheet. Rub them with pepper and any other herbs as you deem fitting Add onion and garlic, three cloves and half-a-handful of onion per pair Shape your foil into a small curve, then pour the fine, golden malted liquid, not so much that it spills, but not so little that it couldn't coat the meat Wrap up the meat, so that the liquid can surround the meat inside the metal sheet. Using a large pot, pour in enough water to be ankle-deep, then place a small steamer base down, so that it create a nice, dry surface, away from the water Place your ribs inside the pot, and shimmer for 1.5 - 2 hours, depending on how tender you wish your ribs to be Close the lid and wait, take caution as the water may fully vaporize, in such case, simply add more (hot) water. Coating and roasting First, remove the ribs from the foil, gently tap with a piece of water absorbent paper, or left to dry on a rack. This is to ensure the coating can stick to the meat properly, and the meat can caramelize properly. This is important. Place it in an oven tray, and roast over high heat for 10-15 minutes, to achieve caramelization. Alternatively, wrap again, in a new, clean piece of metal sheet, then grill over open flame to taste. Cover the ribs with your preferred sauce and honey, with herbs that you deem fitting. The final rib should have a nice, caramelized surface, while retaining its inner moisture and tenderness. A well-cooked rib should be tender enough that you can directly pull the bone off. Serve with roasted/mashed potatoes, salad and a good mug of golden malted liquid. A few notes on debugging your ribs: If it's not bone-pulling tender, you did not steam it long enough. If it's mushy, vice versa If it's too dry, you grilled/roasted it for too long. For the caramelization process to take place, you need to have high heat in a relatively short period of time. Or that your rib is of garbage quality.

Many thanks to Sushi for creation of this contest, and also for such generous provision of reward, each of which I note requires of significant time and effort from thine own tireless being. I certainly did not expect to win this avatar, but I promise it shall go to a character worthy of its beauty; I vow that it should not stay locked within a vault, but be displayed by one who shall provide of further depth to her being.

Upon recent events I did find myself within the Dead, with little company, save for the Death Guards, a very kind wookie, and, in curiosity, a shade. This shade did say naught, but did pass to myself a small stone tablet, that which I do exhibit herewith. With time, I believe I did realise of its meaning, and did reveal it to the shade; who then finally did speak, in gratefulness, that it should finally understand of what its sibling did write. Those who message myself the solution upon the Forum shall be in contention for rewards that I have petitioned of Chewett and Ailith - a Wishpoint and anniversary creature for the first to provide its solution, and a second anniversary creature to the second to do so. Entries are now open, and shall close upon the close of the anniversary celebrations, fourteen days hence. I shall accept only of solutions in private-message upon the forum - entries posted elsewhere shall not be accepted.

    Golem's Reflection

Golem’s Reflection Ailith kneels before the fires at Mount Kelle’tha and speaks the following words: “Truth. Balance. Reason” Before her an image of a broken antique hand mirror frame appears, with only shards and dust of the mirror remaining. Ailith nods and utters: “Truth. Transposition. Light” The shards and dust leave the frame and approach her, whirling around her for a few moments as though she had millions of stars surrounding her. “Truth. Entropy. Time.” They then coalesce to create three larger shards and move to hover in front of her eyeline, reflective surfaces facing her. Each holds a different image. To begin the quest, please find Ailith awake in game and during a conversation with her, ask “What did you see in the first shard?” ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the first part of a longer quest that I intend to run in game from my papers. I am launching the first part only for the duration of MD's 14th birthday. This quest involves some writing, so success and rewards will come from the following criteria: Effort: Outstanding / Average / Minimal Content: Outstanding / Average / Minimal Relevance: Outstanding / Average / Minimal Effort means the amount of time and thought you spend on your response, Content means the consideration you have given to actually writing the response and relevance means how closely your response is connected to what I am asking of you. Please note: I will NOT be judging your grammar, spelling or level of written English if it is not your native language. What matters to me is your own personal style and expression. For the time period of the MD birthday, I will give the First and Second place entries an anni creature. (All contestants who pass the bar on the first section of this quest will be allowed to continue with the second part which will be published in one or two months)

    Birthday Cooking Quest!

Herewith, mine submission - Cow-Tree Phở - simplified from a family recipe of mine inhabitor. Instructions are included for those who wish to create of it in the other-realm, also. Requirements were as follows: Five units of pure elemental rain-water - enough to fill a large recipient Two units of Bones, obtained of a cow that doth grow within Ailith's mythical Cow-Tree. Bones excavated from Necrovion will not suffice. One unit of thinly sliced cow, also from the Cow-Tree Three seedling-bulbs (preferably of the onion-kind) One unit of rice-noodles; a rarity within this realm A handful of ground aromatic herbs; a handful of whole aromatic herbs One handful of Golemian Rock-Salt A handful of leaves from the basil-plant A sprinkling of ground pepper-corn Twelve full erolin-spheres; alternatively, a full heat-storing jar (twelve thousand points shall suffice). Fill of a large cooking-pot with elemental water. Source of some bones - a kilogram and a half thereof (I would hope, from the Cows in the Cow-tree, rather than that excavated within Necrovion) - that with much marrow were ideal for this recipe. Sprinkle some ground aromatic herbs, and some that were not ground. (Those within the other-realm may use of some Five-Spice, and some whole star anise) - a generous handful shall suffice. Place within two large seedling-bulbs (those of the other-realm may know of these as onions; the brown or the red equally suffice). Do not slice of these into smaller portions; some incomplete cuts shall suffice, such that the water may permeate of them, yet not cause of disintegration. Add of some erolin-heat, and simmer for two to three hours, then, set aside to cool overnight (one of the other-realm may use a refrigerator to aid of this process). Once cooled, one shall note of a coalescence atop the broth. Carefully remove of this and discard it. To complete of the broth, add of some Golemian Mineral Salts to taste; one of the other-realm may, in preference, use of fish-sauce. Prepare of some rice-noodles; these are indeed quite rare within the realm; one must find a place to grow of rice, and reap of it, and cast them into flat sheets; one blessed of the other-realm may find it easier to purchase of these, and mine inhabitor doth quite recommend of that which were fresh, and not dried. If one may obtain of the fresh kind, soak in boiling water for two minutes, and strain of the water. Add of sliced onion-bulb, and of raw, thin slices of cow, from the mythical cow-tree. Finally, ladle of the broth (ideally, it were close to the boil at this time) over the dish, and sprinkle of some ground pepper-corns and basil-leaves. One so inclined may add of bean-shoots, or of further heat-spices, but this were not mine own preference. Serve hot; stir to cook the beef until it were cooked to thine own taste.

    Nimrodel

    Scene Redesign Challenge

I do not have time to conduct a quest or design a new scene. But I still want to participate in at least one quest, for old times sake. This picture is years old, designed by me for a Christmas scene decoration quest, one of the five or six scenes I designed for that quest. I liked another picture and therefore chose that one for submission. However, nothing in the world can match the strong feeling of nostalgia I get when I see this pic, the hours of labour it took me to create this one tiny frame, paint, erase and repeat, paint, erase and repeat, I even used to get headaches due to spending hours in front of my laptop... The sole purpose of it being wanting to win the best questor award at the end of the year. Beating dst at what she was incredible at, seemed like a badge of pride to wear during those days. Still is. All of it began in this paper cabin as Esmerelda. The funny part is, after I finally understood what I wanted to do in this game, I created a new character named Nimrodel, as you know me now, and I didn't start the game in Paper cabin at all! Mp2 testing was going on, and I started the game in golemus, at wraith's wreck if I remember correctly, ate Grido's brains asking too many questions, stumbled upon some super secret golemus meeting which I remember nothing about (all I remember is they kicked me out respectfully asap). And after that began my journey as Nim to the person you know me as on today. I may not have been there for all the 14 years of MD, but every single day that I get to experience this... Phenomenon, is a new lesson, a new experience in its own. Here's hoping to be able to spare more time in the near future, Happy Birthday MagicDuel. Wish you many many more to come...

    Guilds - A Discussion

Just a few two cents but, as of now, resources is a mess most without any practical application, and guilds do not have any significant impact whatsoever. It'd be great for the guilds to have some impact, such as the ability to maintain and provide better tools, and a way to protect the resources. The fact that resources are scattered throughout the lands, naught of caretakers, and there's almost nothing someone could do to fix resource regeneration nor punish those who crippled the environment. At the same time, the types of resources are too vastly different, yet governed under the same engine, essentially making them re-skin and re-name from one another (minerals regeneration? a lake having... 20 buckets of water in it?) A quick fix won't last forever, and a full fix requires re-thinking on how resources should be implemented from the ground up, in my honest opinion. It seems that it's all tossed up together with no sense of direction of how they'd impact gameplay. Hard to play make-believe with things that have no intrinsic values, which can't even be split and used for proper trading.

I believe this shall be the most daring quest that I ever do create upon these Forums; it may end in utter failure, but it were my hope that it were not so. Among the most mysterious and poorly understood parts of the realm is Inner-Magic - that deemed such by Mur. In time past, there had been many who did possess a fragment of Inner-Magic to share with others of the realm, in reward for quests. I do believe Mur hath further fragments to grant, but this is not a quest that doth arise out of necessity; merely that I have been overly impressed of recent of the realm's brilliance. Thus do I offer this quest this anniversary: Create an Inner-Magic spell document, including all of its levels. The first were a description, and each level shall increase in depth; each level should be brief. An example of one in near-entirety may be found of the Timeless Shot spell - https://magicduel.com/index.php?pag=samplespell - do note of the complexity of thought required to conceive of such magic. Aelis hath offered to judge of this quest, as one of the coveted Soldiers of the Inner Sun. I shall provide them as anonymous entries, so that he may judge them based on their quality. The quest entries shall be judged upon the close of the Anniversary such that the prizes may be awarded, but it may be that this quest shall persist, if there were sufficient interest and exceptional submissions. Rewards for this quest were as petitioned from Ailith and Chewett - A wishpoint to the submission best judged, and anniversary creatures to those placed second, and third. Do note that I shall ask further for anniversary creatures in reward if there were an excess of submissions that Aelis should deem deserving thereof. Submissions, as with mine other quests of the Anniversary, shall remain upon the Forum only. If all the submissions are deemed insufficient in quality, I do reserve the right to change the rewards accordingly, but this too I shall defer to Aelis. There is no guarantee that these will be deemed even remotely sufficient to even attract a passing glance from Mur for consideration of implementation; yet, the realm's brilliance has not failed me thus far. Murspeed.

This cipher was more difficult than usual, I assume archaic English was largely to blame (even though I'm sure most of us expected it will be archaic because it's Aia's quest), but I had some success with MD's ciphers so far so I managed to pass it after a few stepping stones. But the riddle was a killer for me No hints were really of substantial help, it was just a whole week of guessing after guessing. Actually the hints seemed like a quest for themselves What I want to say about Aia's questmaking... I think it's a proper MD style of a quest, and I would like her to continue to create such puzzles (and riddles), because they are proving to be a temporary brick wall, which can make players appreciate the adventure of solving it rather than steam roll. I would just suggest to remove the competition part, because it's a lot of stress trying to be first in something you're obviously having issues with If there would be a clickie quest with a permanent static reward, that would be perfect for this kind of quest difficulty. You leave it be for a while and then return to it with fresh mind and no time pressure. Thank you all for your kind words!

    Typo and Grammar Fixes

Decided to just throw this up. It's not vital to anything but there is some other stuff I plan on sending to Chewett privately. I didn't write this intending to be snobby or to criticise, and it's the curse of those correcting grammar to screw things up. Please note that I was educated in British English and learnt from British English style models, yet am trying to conform to an American English style. Pinch of salt, etc. [More Info] Tab Above Chat: Online UsersPlayers that were online in the last 60 minutes, or if they've just passed the location can be seen in grey, or will show in orange if they are at the location at that exact moment. (Correction) Players that were online in the last 60 minutes, or if they've just passed that location can be seen in grey, or will show in orange if they are in that location at that exact moment. I suppose you could use either, but this is arguably a more accurate determiner in this particular circumstance. The same goes for the preposition. You could say that you are "in" a location but it is more accurate to say that you are "at" a location. RP Reality RequirementThis is an indicator to/which remind/s you that some things are more real than others, even in a fantasy world, depending on how many observe the same "reality." How firmly you are anchored in MagicDuel's reality, or how careless you are about your role-play (RP), will probably determine your future in the realm, but for now it's just an indicator. This is an indicator that reminds you that some things are more real than others, even in a fantasy world, depending on how many observe the same "reality". How well you are anchored in MagicDuel's reality, or how careless you are about your role-play(RP), will probably determine your future in the realm, but for now it's just an indicator. Again, awkward determiner use, and then there's a full stop outside the parenthesised "reality," which American English style models would most likely disagree with. The adverb firmly is more accurate than well. Having Roleplay(RP) is acceptable but it's easier to read if split up. Below is a description of each Reality Requirement: - Intimate: 2 or less people. RP is unrestricted, reality is irrelevant between two people if both accept the fantasy. - Loose: 3 to 5 people. RP can go wild, but common sense is required. As long as the other few accept it, most things are fine. - Moderate: 6 to 10 people. RP is considered real only if it is based on proof or good logic. Your avatar may give you elements to support that logic as well as your inventory items, a very well established role in a clear and distinct activity, things in the current location/scene, or abilities you posses.- Strict: 11 to 30 people. Only real things, irrefutable to anyone present. These are the things you can do based on your actual abilities such as spells or special interfaces, actions supported by your inventory items, fights, and other interface supported actions. Simple logic without a real base to support it is not enough to form reality under this level. - Real Only: 31 or more people. In large groups, only what you can do in such way that is undeniable to anyone observing it, can pass as reality. What you do under this level should be stricter than the strict level and as real as it can get, so that nobody can say or think "no you couldn't possibly do that" or "you are making things up." You could write: Below is a list of Reality Requirements and what they entail. This is less pretentious? Also, there should be a colon before a list ideally. Instead of overusing colons, I decided to use As Well As to begin a list. There's also a stutter in consistency when the last listed Reality Requirement doesn't have people on it. It's obvious, and people know, but it just helps. Again, I've moved full stops to inside the quotation marks. Fantasy is not chaos, sometimes it's more real than you think. Understanding what "real" means, or should mean, is a big step forward in understanding what "fantasy" really is. Fantasy is not chaos, sometimes it's more real than you think. Location ViscosityViscosity of a location determines the increase or drop in action point(AP) cost for moving or using clickables in that location. It is determined by how often the place is visited by yourself or others. Visited more recently, the location memory becomes more fluid and fresh, thus the AP cost is less. Viscosity builds up over time and makes long forgotten places even harder to access. It is possible that the viscosity will render certain deserted places fully off limits if nobody visits them for a long period of time, or make other locations that have a naturally high AP cost easily accessible when when more people go through them. The value and its influence is shared by everyone in the same location. This place as opposed to that place feels strange. AP only capitalises the A in a few places for some reason. The use of "This Room" feels very specific? Gosh, this is a draining and arduous way to do things! I'll consider different ways of doing things, but I'm taking a short rest for now. I hope I'm excused for posting in this thread multiple times? Here is my new drawing~ lets play a little game with it! Use your imagination to write a dramatic backstory for this character/creature in the comment below. It must be related to MD, and connected to at least one player/place/alliance...etc. Try not to repeat ideas that others used, I'll pick the one I like most (after one week) and give you this avatar as reward, or a piece of custom artwork for your in-game item.(optional)

Hey everyone, First of all, I’d like to thank Aia for inviting me to judge this quest 😊 The entries were evaluated on 2 main aspects: ‘Spell-docity’: The resemblance of its content to a real spell document (both in content and spell choice) Progression: How each level gradually evolves in complexity and the cohesion between levels While I really enjoyed reading your submissions, I have decided not to award a wishpoint to the winner. That being said, here is the final ranking: 1st: Malediction (lashtal) 2nd: Flight (Aia) 3rd: Explosions (Nepgear) Congrulations to the winning authors! PS: The entries were made anonymous beforehand so as to remove any bias. The authors were only revealed to me after I sent Aia my final decision.

Sculpting Tools - Allows you to create figurines out of wood or other materials for players (Alternatively, Tiny Men or Aramors). (Could be used with Pure Gold, Iron Ingots, Crystals, Gems, Cut Diamond etc.) (Could allow for long-range spellcasting on a target, but have it be used up? Different materials could have multiple uses?) Requires materials and perhaps some heat. I second Ailith, an item that creates a jumplink would be great for when the celebration is over and the meeting casts run out. I was under the assumption that some scenes were already protected from jumping? Feathery Quill - Allows you to write on paper to create notes that you can pass around, or potentially even write on books with multiple pages as a physical item. Sun Orb - Turns the scene from Night into Day for a short time. Training Dummy - Creates an unkillable monster (Empty Aramor type thing) with a low attack reset time (or none) to train rituals on. No losses or wins can come from it. Sketching Pencil - Used with paper, allows the user to capture a player's avatar or a scene in their inventory. This can be viewed at any time. Requires heat. Incense Holder - Allows the user to burn herbs using heat, providing various effects, more random for unidentified herbs. Fungal Transposer - Converts 10 flowers into an edible mushroom which gives a small boost or restores missing vitality/AP/EP. Fungal Transposer - Converts 10 flowers into an edible mushroom which makes the user hallucinate. (Could be used for fun stuff like the Nightshade or to see things like the carnival or defeated monsters again?) Cold Mold - Coverts water into Ice, which reduces personal heat or the heat of a creature. Dueling Sword - Allows you to duel with another, rock paper scissors style. Players pick the consequences of losing out of 3 options, and the number of rounds up to ten. Both must agree to duel. Erolin Shard - Sacrifices VP and fills with heat, which can be transferred to items, but not yourself. Cleansing Brew - New tea recipe or something, cures debilitating effects. Uses minerals or crystals, water and heat. Flower Identifier - Converts the Flowers resource into a type of flower, or turns multiple into a bouquet of flowers. Treasure Hunt Shovel - Allows you to bury items and dig for them. Warm Cloak - Prevents Erolin loss. Viscosity Torch - Channelling Erolin heat reduces the room's viscosity over time. Each regeneration has an impact. Viscous Oil - Increases Viscosity in an area. Made from a mixture of herbs. Heat Pebble - Reheats cold tea for more heat. I have many more, though don't wish to take up the whole thread. Edit: A particularly evil idea came to me once I'd finished and posted this... Frying Pan - Converts baby creatures into yummy meals. Eggs become omelettes. Elemental eggs become elemental omelettes. Young Knators become Fried Knator Steak, and you can get some Grasan Rump too if you want. Requires heat, maybe some oil too. Just an idea

    MD Birthday Playlists!

Hey everyone! This is not really a contest, but I imagine it will please most. Here's what you have to do: Create a playlist with at least 5 songs that, in your opinion, better describe your country's music! You can try picking one from each genre, or simply your favorite ones. Totally up to you! Since we have multiple players from a few countries, it'll be interesting to see the different choices! I'll start (damn this was harder than I thought... I ended up choosing 20 songs ): This here is a bit of the rich Brazilian musical identity. I tried to cover a lot, but I couldn't focus too much on more recent stuff... too many masterpieces to choose from Looking forward to hearing your songs!

Ok, lets give it a shot First I want to say that I tried to incorporate both my arrival upon Island and Main Land into one picture. Even though my scene may suggest otherwise I was very warmly greeted upon arrival at the island, still the first thing that comes to mind when I think about that time is the feeling that everything is shrouded in a mystery, that many things are not what they seem to be, hunger for adventure and discoveries. It was a new experience, I felt like a baby trying to learn how to walk. The bloody part comes mostly from my memories of encountering shades for the first time when I arrived upon No man's land, I wanted to present my uneasiness that I felt back then. Anyway MD still reamins a mystery for me, a one that I want to dive into and let it swallow me whole.

    Birthday Cooking Quest!

This dish is called good ramen. The etymology of it is quite fascinating. It is ramen and it tastes good, for this reason I call it good ramen. As ramen does not exist in MD we use the next best thing. While making a cake we instead make nonsweet dough and then push it through the quills that a knator has shed to give it the stringlike form. When No One isn't looking poke through his pile of unidentified herbs and snag some ginger, garlic, basil, and a few bay leaves. A good way to distract him is to write some really bad code and ask him for help to debug it via pm. Use about an ounce of ginger per person you plan to serve Use two cloves of garlic per three people you plan to serve, round up (don't skimp on flavor!) After you have made a ginger and garlic herbal tea add basil to suit your taste Add a bay leaf or two When the broth is done add the knator ramen. It's okay to leave them in the quills. The knator quills will dissolve to add more flavor (read: ramen flavor packets :P) and a pleasant texture. Let it boil together and marry into a good taste THE SALMON! We do actually have fish in MD. Remember cutler's fishing quest? Take a fillet of salmon (skin on is optional but I think it looks nice and tastes good) and plop it in a pan with some chopped garlic and ginger alongside a bit of Grasan oil. Don't ask about the Grasan oil, you don't want to know. Any oil works... Just let the salmon sit in a pan on heat while covered until it is cooked all the way through. I like to let the bottom side (without the skin) get a little crispy for about a centimetre from the bottom down. The texture from this is really nice. PLATING IT? Pour the ramen into the bowl and plop some salmon on top. Arrange the bay leaf as garnish as your discretion allows and trickle the oil and herbs the salmon cooked with on top of the salmon to complete garnishing this dish.

    Character Design Challenge

[Updated] After some discussion with quest participants, I have decided to set the deadline for requests for item artwork for the 2nd of June this year(30 days), after which the reward will expire, as I cannot leave this in my workflow forever due to indecision. Items may be found in the MD shop or by trading with others; unique or personal items can be requested from an administrator such as Mur or Chewett, sometimes in exchange for a wishpoint, although they may choose not to implement your item. Thank you for your understanding.

I call this rendition "Mischief Managed". Although most renditions above have used of colour, I have attempted to maintain this scene as similar to the realm as I am able; that one should instead observe of its differences. I recall the Paper Cabin many years ago as a place of mystery, quite remniscent of the realm, surely one of its most iconic scenes. The Paper Cabin, to me, were an allegory for the realm - a place where many secrets and puzzles hide in plain sight; where one discovers and befriends of its beings, and becomes part of its history. One worthy may become its tinkerer; to build and shape it for others to enjoy; developing new meanings and discovering new connections; the tragedy being that most of these shall lie undiscovered to most who do seek them. Of mine own welcome - this were many years hence; and sadly, most recollections are gone, other than scattered happy memories of friends that I did leave behind; especially Tarquinus of the Eclipse, whose memory continues to shape Aia as she is today. As the shade's mischievous acts within the above rendition of the Paper Cabin; so too are these memories; altered, scattered, lost; but the collective experience recalled as one of happiness, nonetheless.

    Scene Redesign Challenge

This year the scene redesign challenge is focused on the original start, the Paper Cabin. You are to take the below image of Paper Cabin and add colour to it and any additional motif you feel is suitable. The theme this year is "Welcome to MD". Feel free to add any additional images, colour, text, or modify the image in any way you feel fit. The only requirement is that it must be (at least vaguely) visible that it is Paper Cabin. Along with the image, you must write some words about what this scene means to you, and how you were welcomed into MD. Examples of previous entries are available in this thread. Prizes will be 1 Anniv creature to first second and third place (either decided by vote or judging panel) along with various gold and silver rewards. Any notable artworks outside first second and third will also be awarded 1 Anniv.

I present to you: The Crazy Jazzy Welcome to MD Party hosted by yours truly (not shown because I was the one taking the picture!) featuring: a bunch of drunk old geezers, illusions, pimped dudes, a drachat, foods, drinks, decorations aaaaand SAVEL "FUSER" COLTRANE on the jazzy sax! (oh and a happy dancing book because why not display a book enjoying some cool jazz?) -- Oh and a mad guy outside who wasn't invited because he wouldn't let us party properly! He keeps staring from afar with a spyglass... creepy. Hope you enjoy it! Fun fact: Savel Coltrane is known as Mr P.C., or Mr. Paper Cabin, because he often plays there. Last year, during an interview, he's told the press that it's his favorite venue. ______________________________________________________________ I made the scene like this because I saw an old screenshot of the Paper Cabin the other day and it was CROWDED, just like this party. I miss the days where you'd have like 3-4 rows of players in the PC and everyone was having a great time. I guess it was like this when I started, but I didn't really pay much attention to the players or the chat back then... I was too busy admiring the scenes and the story mode and trying to figure out what the hell was going on haha.

    Let's design... a radar?

I'll quote from ann. 4626: There is a feature that i wanted to add for many years, but i waited for artworks and never managed to get/do some that i liked. The weirdest things bug me - and that glowing thing with letters in it that stays between 'boxes' does. Let's design something that Mur will (hopefully) like and put in the interface. There are no rewards for this, I have not been asked to do this and chances are we'll fail. However, it's your chance to design an interface thingie. Here's my idea:

The thorn messed me up. Should have realized considering it is literally a thorn and all the other characters only contain straight lines. I did try and brute force my way through the substitution cypher, but couldn't find a good combination for the "the", "thee" and "see" combination. I even thought of "tee" and "see" for a while, but "tee" wasn't quite right and "te" didn't really work either, so eventually decided it probably was some other form of encryption. Alas, it was an interesting puzzle. Compliments to Jubaris on figuring it out.

For the Anniversary celebrations, Aelis the Sky Scouter did create of two thousand and nineteen Hot-Air Balloons, through those resources which he did scrounge from those new upon the Island of the Gateway. As a seasoned Sky-Scouter, he did plot of their course in a perfect, straight path toward Mur in the East, as a surprise to Mur, with much fanfare; and did launch of all of them from the peak of the mountain upon the Gateway, each following of the previous in perfect synchrony of speed. In coincidence, and mayhap also in response to the many newlings that did complain of the broken balloon upon the Island of the Gateway, Mur did also create of two thousand and nineteen Hot-Air Balloons, and did plot their course toward the Island, that each should also travel in a perfect, straight path, at constant speed, from Mur toward the Island, such that they may be of service for those who did wish to leave the Island. In further coincidence, this path were exactly that of Aelis, in reverse; Mur, and Aelis, did release these balloons in perfect synchrony - such were the workings of the Soldiers of the Inner Sun. A curious incident, then, did occur within the skies - when any balloon did meet another balloon which were travelling in a direction opposite, they did collide, sending each directly away from each other, still traversing along this perfect path, at the same speed, yet in the opposite direction. A surprise, then, for Aelis, and Mur, who did each find each created balloon returned to themselves. The balloonists did indeed experience of many collisions, in many bumpy rides, and did curse of their ill luck. The first to message to myself upon the Forum a solution for the total number of collisions, and an explanation thereof, shall be awarded an anniversary creature. As this were a race - only the first correct answer shall win. Do assume that Chewett hath movelocked of Mur while any balloon were airborne.

The spirit of this tournament is that you work with the basic creatures so both young and old have a fair chance competing. Root warriors howeverare allowed since its just a premium tree.

Oh no, i have already finished my drawing already, because i thought this is a permanent quest...ummm...i post it here anyway (otherwise idk what to do with it), i hope u don't mind. >< - - - - - - - - - - - - - My Hellhound? There are too many dark/cruel/creepy hellhounds in the traditional style... so maybe i should try to make sth a little bit different. The power of this hellhound is not about physically but in the mentally, spiritually & emotionally ways. He will trick you, tempt you, lie to you and attack you in your mind. He can read you, lead you down a path of deception and eventually destruction. He is patient, wise, eloquent but also can be very sneaky, his elegant & dignified look inspired from a Whippet. Now, do you want to play a game with him? Supersize Gatekeeper, inspired from Garmr in Norse mythology. He is the largest dog in hell, but inside of him is just a child with little neuroticism. He may look cute and harmless, but you don't want to piss him off, because he will create a great chaos with his burning tail, it can be hard to stop. Haha this is just one of my sketches but somehow i like it, a ballon hellhound! It used to represent happiness in upper world, but now, the more you hate, the bigger he get!
