Building a Crutch

Assira has attached the crutch, and Phantasm can now walk again, we think.....   She has been rewarded with my Elu, a prized possession given by one of my closest friends.  A price can not be put upon getting one's life back.  Congratulations Assira.     This quest can now be closed, thank you all who participated in it.

Revamping MD

No one, if there was a list of admin-allowed scripts that players were allowed to use, what would they do? I ask this because I play lots of games where there are common scripts that provide information to the player. A similar script for MD might tell you the time left until full APs. Others might automatically map out locations, and so on, while others merely are display enhancers.    However, some are trigger-based, such as, if Change is detected in a location, cast movelock on her instantly (this would be VERY easy to do, unless I'm wrong). It's these that I think are explicitly unfair. (the information ones are very unfair too). In lots of games that I play, player-run guilds and alliances often REQUIRE their members to install such scripts or they're not allowed in, because not having the scripts would put the alliance members at a disadvantage.   Even if that doesn't happen in MD, there will still be the choice that's not a nice choice between using such scripts or not. Say I love combat, but I love the MD interface in it's classical form. Yet I can't compete with other users because they have so much information provided by scripts. So I have to choose between ruining the MD interface that I love and being great at combat, or keeping it as it is and merely being 'good' at combat. Such a choice leaves a bitter taste in my mouth and I'm sure it does for others as well.   Thus the only scripts that I'd want to be allowed would be ones that don't give players an advantage. Scripts like the one Rophs just mentioned would be fine. A script that tells you how many resources are in a particular scene, their regen rate, and when they'll fully regen would be not. (Such a script would likely be difficult/impossible to make now since certain changes were made, but before it was probably much easier).

To have a (MagicDuel) dream

I wonder if I could summon the Dreamweaver with a Seedwalk tell stories of dreams tell news of dreams tell poems of dreams tell secrets of dreams we all wake up in a dream?   It's also possible to summon the Dreamweaver by accident, this has almost happened within the year at least once

To have a (MagicDuel) dream

To have a dream in MD - I see it as an adventure. For this purpose, I created a ritual in which I summoned the Dreamweaver. Ritual started on day 165, year 10 and continued for the next two days. All the items used were in my possession at the time of the ritual.     Day 1: storenow.net/my/?f=9b7a88638ddab5d2294a963725b15325               storenow.net/my/?f=af83e4bcd08ae8d73151ef78c9ac3d6d     Day 2: storenow.net/my/?f=2e27a3af321b6ee934345bc55ada1c9a               storenow.net/my/?f=2bf959a32c8f3f6cd09d45d42c7d8ded   Day 3: storenow.net/my/?f=bdac086c94edf2acd913a595034cb5c1               storenow.net/my/?f=3fd12a9d53aae97bcbafd1dc31cff2db   The 'log' of the ritual:
*arrives at Whisper Alley. The wind whispers through the leaves, a chill breeze goes through the trees. It is close to midnight.* *prepares himself for the ritual. It is time to summon the creature known as Dreamweaver. He will surely come. He _must_come!* *takes out a small glass-like jar, glowing faintly. He opens it and a strange light pours out.* *chants "Vinci hominus erolin, homo vinci...". The light expands and covers Ungod, like a golden dust. He then takes out a Barren Soul totem and places it on the ground.* *, with a careful gesture, places a small heat stone on the totem and watches it melt. "Exorior, miles militis!". A Barren Soul rises; he is now Ungod's guide and companion.* *begins the chant.* Dreamweaver, I summon thee! Leave thy shelter, come to me, Come forth, Dreamweaver, in night Bring me visions of the Light! *speaks louder and louder. The Barren Soul reverberates the chant, over and over again, like the ripple caused by a drop of water in a bottomless pool.* *starts walking slowly, uttering the chant. The Barren Soul follows close-by. Soon, his chanting cannot be heard anymore - only strange whispers.* *arrives at Marind's Marble Stairs. The stairs await.* *is weakened and his energy is low. Why hasn't the Dreamweaver answered? Was the ritual too weak? Was his voice unheard?* *rests for some moments. The light is faint around the Barren Soul. "He is no use to me anymore."* *opens another glass-like jar and starts chanting. Again, light pours out. Then, he takes some timeless dust and blows it over in the direction of the Barren Soul."Abeo quies quietis!"* *looks intently at how the Barren Soul twirls and dissapears with a shriek in the wind. He then grabs the totem fallen on the ground and hides it.* *takes out another totem and places it on the ground. Then, he places a heat stone on the totem. "Exorior, miles militis!" An Imperial Aramor rises; he is now Ungod's bodyguard and companion.* *has injected eyes. He needs protection now, above all. The Aramor shall serve well. And the incantation must be repeated. A hurdle, nothing more. Nothing more...* *begins the chant.* Once again, I summon you, Hear my pledge, my wish is true, Come forth, weave the dream of dreams, Shake the world out of its rims! *starts to climb the marble stairs, chanting louder and louder. The Imperial Aramor follows close-by, keeping watch on everything."* *arrives at Marind's Roundabout. The stairs took the best out of him and got him kneeling. Why hasn't the Dreamweaver answered?* *looks at the water sparkling in the sun. He lowers his head and washes his face with the pure water of the fountain.* *regains strength - not the strength of body, but of mind - and rises. "It is time."* *lets a drop of his own blood fall on the marble tile.* *throws down a heat stone. A short chant makes the blood alive - it sticks to the shattered stone like a slime, grabbing all the pieces and arranging them, forming a pulsating heart with red laylines.* *grabs the pulsating heat stone and looks at the Imperial Aramor. He has done well.* *sprinkles timeless dust on the Aramor's weapon. "Abeo quies quietis!"The Aramor lowers his weapon and jams, then withdraws from reality.* *takes out a Bird totem and places it on the ground. Then, a simple heat stone is put on it. "Exorior, miles militis!" The Winderwild hovers around Ungod, then lands on the fish.* *approaches the majestic Winderwild and places the blood-stained heat stone in its beak. "Rise, and be my signal!"* *begins the chant, ever so loud.* See my agent in the skies, Dreamweaver, and hear my cries! Come and show me of the Light The visions I seek, in night! *awaits in deafening silence.*
P.S. The Dreamweaver can be summoned in many a ways (=rituals), depending on who you are.   (edit: damn, I messed up the links. will re-do them later)

Revamping MD

1. Why is this in Seal of Six section? Isn't this more suitable for other sections of the forum? I might sound rude, but I don't get it.   2. Maybe a bit of customisation wouldn't hurt, but I don't see MD as some sort of Android platform where everybody can make everything look different. Why? I have the weak argument that "I feel it would take away some of what makes MD... MD." I wouldn't mind various "themes" and appearances for the interface (maybe the interface could look differently based on the player's land? I think that would be pretty neat.) but I was told at some point that the idea was abandoned.   Stuff I'd like:  Make the right handside bar default to something other than status bar Notifications of creatures being ready to level (creature icon could bleep and turn gold?) Notifications that voting websites have finished cooldown Ability to sort your inventory (alphabetically, most recent, type, cooldown, idk) sort messages into "conversations with player X" (rather than an endless stream of individual messages) I personally don't like the idea of "scripts" currently because they're not publicly available (or at least not to my knowledge? The language to make scripts might be available, but not scripts themselves, for the coding-illiterate like me). I wouldn't mind them as much if "finished" scripts were made public, maybe something like mods are for other games. NO, I do not think mods are suitable for MD, I am only using the "method of distribution" as comparison, not the products themselves. Still, I feel scripts are quite icky and stigmatised in general.   Scripts aside - a few customisation options would be very good. I would rather call them "ergonomics" rather than "customisation" since I think most of the stuff that would be neat in MD would be accessibility options (like inventory sorting ) rather than full-on "I want to move this tab here, this tab there, I don't want to see the chat or the scenes, etc".    Interesting discussion.

Revamping MD

To focus on the positive points of the post, how do people think the interface could change. The optimial width of MD is planned to change to 1280. This fits the majority of screen sizes and this should be taken into account. If this discussion gets interesting I might leak the prototypes :D

Revamping MD

As a note, you can call it what you like but it is still not allowed. You are modifying the behavior of MD to allow you to do things faster. This is an unfair advantage and who knows where you stop. Would you say that "Oh writing a bot to trade lots of items is fine because its just using MD", or what about a bot to attack again "im just using MD". I personally have wasted a lot of time where people have installed such scripts and forgotten or didnt know what they did and either they broke them, or the scripts were badly written and broke their MD. Although interestingly the new interface will have a large amount of customisation since we plan "slots" of information to move around the page. We know a number of people use scripts to gain an unfair advantage and some even brag about it and this isnt really fair. If script use becomes widespread we will have to just ban those using or making them because it is unfair.

Change: *pulls out some of her dead hair and scatters it around the sprout* Should repell small critters I think... Change: Well, back to the gates.

21. 1 point
This is an interesting case. On one hand, I agree that sponsoring the Molquert quest with a WishPoint is a valid thing. Good for you to inspire soem activity there, Seigheart. On the other hand, if Seig is the one who gets revived, that crosses some pretty strong grey-areas and looks suspiciously like "buying a revival with TK rewards". Regardless of the original intent. I don't envy Council to judge/jury if this is "fair" or even "legal" or not. I say, let the request stand, and see what happens when revivals actually happen? If Molquert can revive multiple people, and requires more than one person's effort to Succeed, then it gets even more muddled. But for my opinion, I think it's a valid try, at least, until the act itself happens and we go through the 'fallout' of details then. If it turns out badly, then we know not to do it again. If not, and someone gets revived for a WP, then, yay, someone's alive and someone else gets a wish! Yes, I would like to play a game. (I also am not even going to get into the statement of death being an item effect, or "normal", or any of that. I'll keep my opinions to "sponsor a WP for revival" as the original topic)
22. 1 point
Which is EXACTLY the point, Falronn! But people focus entirely on the fact that it's Seigheart, lets nit pick and find something wrong with this JUST because it is Seigheart. I am sponsoring Molquerts quest. That is my job as TK leader. To sponsor quests. It is a GOOD quest, otherwise there wouldn't be such a high reward as this.
23. 1 point
So nobody has been revived by this new method created specificly to revive people? It seems like people need a little more motivation then, ex. a wishpoint. Whether or not Seigheart gains from this (which there's no guaruntee he will) I think he's doing a good thing sponsoring the quest.
24. 1 point
I do not get any tangible reward. I get an item effect removed from me. That is all. I, as the Leader of the TKs, can use the Treasury as I see fit, bar a few restrictions, one of which, is that I may not use it for personal gain. Is getting an item effect removed a personal gain? No. I do not think it is, because that would imply that being killed is a permanent negative effect. Or that being "alive" is something that is a reward, not a normal state. A normal state is NOT a reward or a benefit of any kind. It's something that is the norm. Right? So, in my eyes it is not a reward. Of any kind.
25. 1 point
Of course you are "just saying". No, it's not. There is no reason for anyone to revive me. If anything, I'd rather that they didn't, because I'd just be killed immediately again. If you are unhappy with this challenge, feel free to email Council, but do not spam this topic.
26. -1 points
I do not get any tangible reward. I get an item effect removed from me. That is all. I, as the Leader of the TKs, can use the Treasury as I see fit, bar a few restrictions, one of which, is that I may not use it for personal gain. Is getting an item effect removed a personal gain? A normal state is NOT a reward or a benefit of any kind. It's something that is the norm. Right? So, in my eyes it is not a reward. Of any kind.
you said enough with this, imo this should get ya removed from position of power ya hold atm, luckly its nut up to me umm lets see, ya get item effect removed? its thats how its called now? being alive a normal state? being dead is perma neg thing? well to some yes, but to some not and for those who want to change it have big problems last time i checked revival costed 20gc on market, for ya even more, alternative was priceless help from whole community, but that was obviously only one time thing, and now with molq, which is again hard thing to do so when we look up all the facts ya are usin tk resources to get yoar ass revived which in turn will save ya a lot of fuss ya would have to do if ya were to do it molquert-way (assuming its even possible for ya do it, well molq q is hard thing ya said it yoarself and nobody managed to do it yet) or in other way it would save ya tons of gold oh also i dunt have to remind ya ppl that spartiatis left game cuz of this "worthless item effect" seigh is tryin to get removed moreover the fact that others are dead as well is yoar very slim excusse nuthin more so oke seigh... its not a personal gain gettin "item effect" removed at all... how come then removal of this item effect is currently most expensive thing ingame this concludes all, but dunt worry seigh, murry aint around and council doesnt read forums, and me is lazy to mail them about this nonsense, ya can stay head of tk
27. -1 points
One more thing. Revival is supposed to be done by those that are dead themselves, with their will, efforts in doing that Molquart's quest. Will of the community for their survival is legitimate too. But this is neither, this is buying people off, there's no will to get them revived, it's just the will to get the fancy rewards. Now, it's ok if someone from the list buys people off to help him... That may fall under the will I guess, though lazy kind... But, I'm saying this again, you're using here TK resources, you're using WP as a reward, and you are on the list, yet you still claim this is "all cool"? You know what? Let's say your are unbiased and the fact that you are on the list is not bothering your reason. WP of a reward would be ok for this case... But without making it public, if you would reward someone AFTER the whole event to recognize their great achievement, rather than clearly state here what does someone need to do for your WP, then it would be legitimate. This way, you're buying people off to do your dirty work.
28. -1 points
Molquert is a Council-sponsored quest, the reward being something special and unique: revival. To me, the fact that people are offering rewards like this is an insult to anybody trying to revive people for its own sake. If the powers that be find that Molquert is not working, it'll change, though it may take time. Patience. If you still want to reward people for the effort of reviving people, I would suggest not advertising it and seeking them out after they do it. As for the conflict of interests stuff, there's not much else to be said: Seig, good job, you have an excellent way of causing problems and then getting angry about it.

Revamping MD

It took me a while to start writing this so please bear with me.   Some of you know that I "enjoy" "changing" with the interface of MD or in other words "I like it adjusted", mostly from some forum posts or some 3rd party advertising.   The questions are simple : Would you like to be able to "pimp" yourself your MD interface ? What would you like changed/"pimped" in MD that would help you greatly? And the most important of all :Why / why not to pimp MD ?   I know that some will not agree because ... "that is the way MD is and should not be changed" or "it will cause a lot of bugs that are not from MD and it is wasting coder's time". On the other hand I've heard "wow, I didn't know that <location> had that <resourse/tag>" or "nice, now I can see easier what is interesting me".     Do note: I do not talk about bugs, link abuses, hacking (as in MD code hacking). This is just about "pimping" what is already available on the page.
