Just Realised I Never Said "hi"

Welcome. As far as I am concerned, you should ignore people who assail your roleplaying or dismiss it as "stupid" -- even if it were true, saying that to a player of MagicDuel would be a bit like handing out speeding tickets at a race. This community has roleplayers of all degrees of experience, skill, and level of interest, from none to considerable. I find that most people are supportive and welcoming of new players, even if many, with good reasons, express doubts about secondary or tertiary characters (alts). I offer but one word of advice, and that is to attempt to be considerate. If you wander into a scene where nobody is speaking in-character, don't force your RP on them (unless you deliberately wish to be viewed as obnoxious). Those of us, such as myself, who value good roleplay, have reason to hope that our courtesy will be returned by those who do not share our values. Enjoy your time in MagicDuel, and don't be shy about asking for assistance.

Just Realised I Never Said "hi"

So, I was reading the forums in order to learn more about the world of MD and sudenly I came to realization that I have never said "Hi" to you all here. So, well, a bit late but from the heart regardless, here is my "Hello!" to the fine people in this community. But I would also like to use this oportunity to say few things to those that wonder/are interested in and so on, regarding my two characters Lady Dawn and Lady Dusk, in order to calm your spirits just a little bit. First let me assure you, that with Dawn and Dusk I am not trying to unbalance anything in the lovely world of MD. That is one of the reasons why there is not just Dawn but also Dusk. I have a fairly worked out concept of these two characters and that concept is in no way coliding with the concept of MD, its history, its inhabitants etc. It is independant one and has no more effect on the world that was created before I made them as if they would be named Lady Kylie and Lady Eilyk, if you understand my point. The concept of them both shall be explained sometime in the future when I will deem it right to be told. But both of them shall have its own story also (about their so-called previous life, out of the MD world), wich will explain why they act as they are. Nothing that they say or do is without a reason (rp-wise, that is). So with a little bit of patience, I will explain everything regarding them. I am very grateful that Lady Dawn was welcomed as she was. But now there is also Lady Dusk, wich, at this time looks more like a random character acting "stupid". I have a plea for you: give her time. Take into account that you know almost nothing of her, yet. She "droped" into this world with only one single objective in her mind: hunting down her sister and destroying her. But as much she hates her, she is also completly lost in this world, not knowing where to turn, who to trust as she knows that her sister (Dawn of course) came to MD sooner. Lady Dusk is at this time scared, confused and blinded by hate (there is a good reason for her hate also as you will be able to learn a bit later on her personal pages). She walks the roads that she doesnt know, she find herself in a world that she, at this point, dont understand. She feels that she "landed" in enemy territory where the rules of other world (from wich she came)apply. So her acting may appear random, hostile and so on. But that is not how I plan her to stay. She is in her metamorfosis stage, so to speak, and even if it doesnt seem so, she learns a bit more of the world with each passing day. In order to change, to grow, she must learn. I understand if you find this to be odd way of doing it, but please do keep an open mind for a while and let her to complete her transformation into what I plann her to be. If you have any doubts or questions, please fell free to contact me. Thank you very much. -K

Aye. One particular area I myself found this useful for was alliance papers. I could change the alliance pages of people within the alliance, which was really handy. I'd also like to take the time to point out that I never heard of anyone complaining about their papers being edited against their will or anythign bad being done in that regard. Hopefully this is the case and it shows that the people with the ability were able to use it well.

    Pointless bickering

Actually, dst, I'm indifferent about the whole thing. From all your stalking and chat-log pulling, I'd think you'd know I have found another venue. I did not speak up on the cyber-sex thread because I didn't see what good voicing my opinion would do. You weren't listening then, you aren't listening now, and you are unlikely to ever listen in the future. YOU, my dear, are the hypocrite, a seasoned rule-breaker who has appointed herself one of the moral authorities of MagicDuel. The comic irony of that is deep. So... you stayed because you didn't see a single RP thingy. Good for you. When people started roleplaying, you were confused and disgusted. Admit it: outlawing the cybering won't make MD a better place for you. You hate ALL roleplaying. Yes, I do say if you have no training in art, you cannot appreciate art as an artist can. I've known scores of people to dismiss things such as modern art and oh, I don't know, maybe poetry, out of sheer ignorance. Your exposure to roleplay and the roleplaying world is ankle-deep, but you speak as though you have plumbed all the depths and intricacies of it. You have not. You speak almost entirely from ignorance, and like most ignorant people, you hate everything you do not understand. I wouldn't bother threatening someone as self-centered as you. You have always been quite open about your flagrant disregard for anyone else's point of view. No idea, do I? Hmm, whatever you say. I recall voting on your stigma, and I recall the events of that time. For the record, I voted against giving you the stigma... because I am a big softie. I have always known I was doing a thing that could get me banned, and I was always prepared to pay the consequences of my actions. You don't read well - because you are not paying attention - and thus you didn't see my remark about what Mur has done and his record of being lenient on this and other matters. Like people such as yourself. As nearly as I can tell, Amoran opened this topic because the rule seems to be something you and people like you pressed Mur to institute so you could get the people you don't like banned. You still don't have the spine to admit that your stance on this issue is really all about the people you don't like rather than any righteous horror at what they have done. Your concern for the MD community is entirely and demonstrably confined to issues and people that affect you personally.

chew not true, if ya get vict it doesnt necessarily means other dude will get defeat
# ~~VICTORIOUS~~ (win+1) This type of outcome happens when both players lose at least 10% vitality and the difference between both oponents is at least 30%. The win gets counted with the win/loss ballance. # ~~DEFEATED~~ (loss+1) When the difference between the players is at least 90% and you lose, the lost fight gets counted with the win/loss ballance.
that means range of fights with outcomes from -10% vs 20% till -10% vs 79% (or -79% vs 10%) is always outcome that attacker gets vict and defender will get retreat, which doesnt matter to balance ratio since it doesnt counts

why would mb be undefeatable, mb always had quality over quantity, and lifeline isnt a dude that have infinite ap and for sure he wont be online all the time during tc, so if he leaves mb, then dang.. others have 2-3h of time to score points, and wot happens when he isnt online? shush, yeah mb has some more great fighters which are able to do job just fine, but thing is they arent undefeatable in combat, so ya see, top fighter doesnt helps that much to turn the tides even in fair game, unlike all other things in md, torch competiton is only one afaik where one man doesnt makes an army also chew said same thing as i did in more simple way, now i guess ya understand wot i pointed out ailith, me dont swear, swearing is when one says bad things about things other cares about, like god, mom, etc, me just uses dirty and direct speech, and dont ya give me lectures on mine speech and actings, have been mod and admin on many forums and ofc mostly it isnt tolerated since ya are writing and not speaking, so ya can change your words before ya click post button so it cant happen that ya accidently said ugly word but also stupidity is much more less tolerated, when i see somethin isnt good i jump up and yell, and thats exactly wot ya did selling ice to eskimos, that kind of stupidity i hate a lot, ya praise things that help you, as long as ya profit from it or as long as ya may profit from it then better to cover it up, i am sayin that if ya thought a bit ya would see that mb is technically handicapped to insane level in that matter, and still ya are saying its not true, even if all of mb says its true, to hell they are from that land not ya, they know better than ya so then why are ya tryin to sell hot water to public? positive stance has no effect if ya dont do things that are required to achieve it, positive stance can only give ya "luck effect" but wont do job instead of ya, if ya have positive feeling that ya will manage to build house oke fine it will help, but if ya start building house from roof, ya will only fail, and if ya try harder again with same approach, again ya will fail, its like tryin to brake wall with head, head will break first, thing ya proposed is same as if somebody wants to form some group but has no idea wot would group do, in this example of mine point is of not well thought idea, its also pointless to defend bad idea just becoz of subjective stand, if it aint too personal, get out of it, do not think that glass of water is full when it contains liquid that covers 60% of its capacity becoz thats exaggerating and overestimating, now let me point it out on this case so your idea is that if ya see somebody who is pickin up torches to sack himself for other land and ya want to kill them, now this is nice idea on first look, but that dude can do this, pick up torch and act as one of yours, while he will be spying your positions and say that he is in here only for def, he will also be killing dudes from other 2 lands just to appear unsuspicious, he can also fool ya in same way, and then stab ya in back in key moment, those two are really ugly situations, so why enemy should be allowed to carry same uniform as ya do? citizenship idea would be much better, after all afaik tc is for land competiton not outsiders, its kind of sport (at least i see it that way, i mean teams that are made out of loyalty towards land, and torch reminds me on olympics)...and there is no place for dirty play in sports, competition is to show which land is best, and it should limit dirty play and mercenaries as much as possible, after all rewards go to land treasury and not to "pivot made team plunder chest" i love when someone asks me why didnt ya tried to change things if ya see they are goin in wrong way, shish, wot can ya do when 2 out of 15 ppl in smallest md land are only ones that care and then there will be ppl against making things fair like ya are just becoz current situation can help ya score faster, and things that are "goin wrong" are goin wrong only for us, they are helping whole md community that is playin against, have i tried to push up mine guys, i did, did i said publicly about those tc problems, i did every time there was topic about tc, now any better idea on how to fix this technical problem, maybe to went to bucharest and lay on middle on street as sign of strike becoz mur havent balanced tc? lol, get real, its all fine with ppl of mb if situation becomes technically fair and only mur can do it then mb has even chances, and spamming mur isnt solution, if ya dont see something that doesnt means nothin is happening, but really who is counting tries? everyone counts tries as failures, or they dont even see tries and count it as failure of makin even try

As both have said before, This is hideous. Victories are something that are earnt as both before me has said, and if you have easy places to get them also, Where next? You already have a place to stat farm, cant you get victories either? This is not a game where everything is given to you, you need to use strategy so that you can get victories. its easy, even if you do lose 100% I am sorry to say this Battila, but it wont work, nor do i wish you luck in this, because it is against what the game is.

    What Is Considered "sexually Explict"?
I can't help to tell this Tarq...woman are guilty for all bad things man do :D:D (for the good things too, but for the point here i will ignore that:P).
We are yes.
Indeed i noticed compared to other games that MD has a huge feminine population. Most games are played by 80% guys and 15% woman (where is 5%, guess). In MD, i don't have stats for sure but i believe woman population is HUGE. Not sure what made them register or stay more .. interesting.
The 5% are from 6th planet in 10th galaxy etc. Kidding... Probably 5% are those inbetween. But personaly I registered because I was eager to try something new and different. I stayed because I like what I see. Thats for short.
Years ago I had in mind something that now maybe will be done. A room, where the people inside have no name, nobody knows who is who..something like Player1 Player2 instead of their names. Chat would be tottaly private, no records. I was thinking it to be called the madhouse, a place where you can say anything, at all, without fearing the other person will use it against you later. Some need to talk, some need to listen. For example i talk with the taxi drivers about stuff i dont talk with friends, because i know that taxidriver will not remember me, will not judge me, will just listen and share an opinion. Its amazing how usefull it is to put my thoughts in order.
That is a very good idea, in my humble opinion. Maybe that way things could be wented out on that specific place and thus improving the overal mood. Anyhow, I think I would actual use it to rant and thus later play my "wanna-be-good and kind and sweet" char better, ha!...
I can't wait to explore a bit more the possibilities behind usable items. :D I allready have in mind how to create professions!! It can be also used to combine items, like raw materials into something else, or to give you ap,vp,ve, or anything else once a day, ..there are endless options. This feature is as important as the spells, trust me. Also limited cast spells can be assigned to items, so you could have like magic tomes that will allow you to cast a spell, but once you give away that book you will no longer have it. I am not sure yet how abusable it is yet. I think the next kind of item will be something like a healing stone, that will recharge your cretures (ALL)but just once every 4 days or so.
To all this I have to say a YEY! And I will add that majority of people probably stay because you are actualy making changes, talking about your ideas and so on. It shows that you care for the "game" and thus we care also (well, ok, I can not speak for everybody obviously). Think about is as a projection in psychology.
I talk again too much and think of too many things at once , arggg.... Sparring Grounds

Wodin didn't have any realistic chances of winning against anyone after bigC stopped training it, though... and these days, even the strenght of Shadowseeker and Leixer won't impress anyone unless tehy want to kill them, really XD What can they do? Kill violators? Whoa, impressive... Since violators are either strong enough to not care, or alts who violate on purpose, there is really SOO much harm in an attack that unbinds my defence and possibly kills one of my creatures, or, mur beware, takes .08 off all my stats... And just another thing i want to add at this point, the reason why so many irresponsible warriors are around are exactly GGG and dojo, if they had actually been fighting a few times before they reached 3k attack, they'd know that it's no good to dish out losses to anybody alive, and they'd know how to gain their wins and stats without dealing losses to the people who can't afford any more... But, one rant a day, and i already had mine... I think that the SG should stay where it is, it's fine there, and there are enough community-based means to punish people who feel like pushing poor Firs and other helpers further towards the stat-brink, simply exclude them from the things you run, be it quest, party or training-session... They don't have to adapt if they don't feel like, but we surely don't have to adapt to them, either!

    Sparring Grounds

besdies the obvious facts that fir, and others have mentioned about the losses taken by the workers in the SG, I think alot of it has to do with the way others want their character to be portrayed. In a spot where rules are to be upheld by the community and not upheld as a law, warrents the "evil" in. Those who chose to go in and attack without stop to portray a character who goes against the community as a whole. The same thing happened to a few in the Dojo. Even to a point where they were in a lot of trouble, but still persisted to prove their point. I think that builds a good RP base for the character, though it hurts the training grounds as a whole. Even with attack lock, or move lock, or whatever other spell you have in your arsenal they only affect the character for a short time. For some people a half hour is a considerable amount of time. Most dedicated players see a half an hour as no more then a minute. Some view a week or two in jail as a day. Time is something that most people who enjoy they game reference much less then the things that happen in the game. I think a major downfall in SG, as well as everything else, is RP has declined rapidly. It has become another "Mobsters" game where everyone just wants to fight and try to gather items others don't have. A good example is the hording of the "raw materials". There are certain of those who view these as actual items instead of building blocks. They horde them so they can be "top on the list". For some deranged reason they think that having a bunch of raw mats makes them special from anyone else. Those who actually are trying to create items out of the raw materials are usually stuck, because those with raw materials only want to trade for "actual items" so they can remain on the list. A most obsurd thing, but non the less the raw material market that most of us were so excited about, has now become a monopoly of the few who refuse to lost poistions on the item owners list. sorry a little off topic, but you get my point. Rules of the community are hard to be followed when most people don't look at the game as a community. They look at it as a place to try and get to the top as fast as possible with the least amount of interaction with the intricacies of the game itself. Wether they are not intelligent enough to comprehend role play, or think the game is a place where role play is not important, the fact remains that only those who wish to play as a community uphold rules as a community.

Allow Other People To Edit Your Papers

When i was RPC, and we could edit other people's docs, for either offences, or because they asked us to do something, other people found it helpful for us to perhaps do something on the papers that they couldnt. Now obviously RPC's arent around anymore, so there arent people that can help out with papers or whatever. My suggestion would be to have somewhere where you can enter the name or ID of another player that you allow to edit your papers, this would be helpfull for players who want html on their papers, but perhaps dont know how to code it themselves. They would be able to add the name/ID of a player that does know html and that player would be able to work on the code on the papers for them. This all make sense? Would other people find this a good idea? LE: Suggestion would be on a tab like where the AL/Top lists etc are

I don't think that this place is illegal unless Mur will make new law about it. This law should be related to GGG as well! It will also help balance between new players and veterans that got too big advantage....

Indeed, it takes time and effort to shape your character, not all of the current players here have back stories and such, neither do I yet. The more effort you put into your characters, the better they will be some time in the future. I personally love your concept about your characters due to their unique style, and I believe you will go far, your god-given abilities seems to transcends boundaries. Thank you Ailith. I have noticed something about the Torch Competition, its incredibly stale due to the lack of participation, not to mention.. What do the weaker players of the lands get to do during it? Sit by and stare while everyone else goes out and attempts to gain points? Maybe it should be more involved so players who are not quite so good at fighting aren't left out.

    What Is Considered "sexually Explict"?

I won't defend explicit RP, which to me is nothing more than smut - and I would know because I did a lot of it... but never before I came to MD. I won't say it is "romantic RP" or anything else. It is smut. I regret that it offended some people, and I consider it wrong on my part to have given offense. I think Mur has gone above and beyond the call of duty to create a private room in the MD world, and it is quite clear he has been lenient with things he personally dislikes. When I came to MD, almost nobody roleplayed and RP was generally ridiculed or treated as burdensome. You, dst, like to say you never roleplay at all. Why you would bother to play a game self-described as an RPG is an interesting question to me, but in my opinion your claim that you do not roleplay completely invalidates you as a judge of what differentiates good roleplay and bad, or of what is roleplay and what is not. dst, you like to speak of cowards and hypocrites. That is amusing. Put your cards on the table, then. There are people you would like to see banned, so just say so. Don't bother masquerading behind rules and regulations. And remember, if you will, the time when a decided majority of the community wanted to see YOU banned... over matters far more serious to a gaming community than explicit language or bad roleplay. You still bear that stigma, and I, for one, have not forgotten why.

    What Is Considered "sexually Explict"?

[Moved to the appropriate topic] And not to be totally offtopic: why is this topic opened anyway? You're telling me that you have no idea what the difference is? See Tarq? This is pure hypocrisy. Now you have a place where you can do all those stuff. Why complain? Cause you have rules to enter there? Cause you don't have always the key? Or cause you cannot do it whenever you want because this time you might be banned?
  29. -1 points
The topic was opened because I have reason to believe that the rule concerning 'sexually explict roleplay' could very well be twisted to get certain people banned. Do I know the difference? Of course I do, I've been roleplaying for 10 years in just about every way imaginable including Renaissance faires. But who is to say someone will not waltz in on a random couple and suddenly exclaim that a hug is sexually explict or a kiss is sexually explict? That is the reason this topic was made, do you need me to make it clearer Dst?

I didn't bothered to check how it was described. All I saw was fights, head contests, crits, rituals. Not a single RP thingy. *turn rant on* OK, and here we go. For anyone here who is over the age of 15, most of us have had relationships IRL. When you see someone for several months to a year, what happens? So the question of intimacy is not weather it's really RP, because you would play the same as any person would feel after being together so long, it's the question of seeing it. The reason it hasn't been such an issue before is because most of us, yes me included, go to remote area's and after we are done scroll the text so no one is the wiser. There are many locations where you can sit for hours and there is a 99% chance you will see not see a soul. Two people got busted from DST's "witch hunting", and it downgraded into an outright pitiful sight of slander, degrading comments, and outright stupidity. Do I think DST was wrong for hunting them down, yes. Do I think they were wrong for being so rude, yes. The true depth of this horrid drama is that it affected the community as a whole, over two parties bickering. Until now anything of this sort has RARELY ever been spoken of. Even when walked in upon, the chat is cleared, and most people are lucky to catch the last line. I think this is another factor in the degrading of MD. Yes DST i love you to pieces, but I think you are degrading MD in this whole mess. Making such a big deal, and throwing such a temper tantrum that Mur has to step in and take measures, well its simply ridiculous. I don't only blame you though, I also blame those who do their private business in places people are known to travel. Worse yet, it that they are so wrapped up in themselves, that they don't have the decency to wipe the chat all you do is . . . . . and poof the chat is gone. Then the only way that it can be read is WHEN SOMEONE PULLS A CHAT LOG, which at that point who is more in the wrong? The party who was RPing, or the party who felt the need to pull someone's chat log, because I think its the latter at that point. DST you are a great part of the MD community, and I enjoy talking with you whenever we do. I just feel that this was a "little girl throwing a temper tantrum because someone wasn't nice to her" and it created a mass hystaria, and almost deffinatly chased possible newcomers away from the game with all of this drama.

The problem as I see it is simply this. We all have different morals and beliefs. In some societies and religions women don't go out in public unless covered head to toe. Yet in MD such restrictions don't exist. To some people the naked form is obscene and pornographic, yet some of the greatest paintings involve nudity and indeed some MD avatars even portray nudity. Its pretty much impossible to define what is sexual behaviour beyond perhaps the actual act itself. Kissing for example was mentioned. Personally I wouldn't find kissing as sexual. Infact people kiss in public in my country all the time. Its not against the law here. Granted it might be in other countries, but it aint here. Holding hands is also done and not against the law, although I believe it is frowned upon if not outright forbidden for a man and woman to do so in public in some countries. Oddly enough its ok for men to do it on the basis that men are just being friends. I guess if you happen to be gay in such a place you have one over on all the hetrosexuals Anyway, there is now a place where people can go to be 'intimate' or indeed just go to have a chat privately. You shouldn't automatically assume that people using such a service are using it for anything naughty either. So can we just drop this topic and move on please? There are plenty of other things we can complain about in RP anyway. Like bad language spammers and people that are immune to everything and the people that can fire lightning bolts from their rear end, not to mention the people that don't like muffins! Seriously, whats up with that?

Intelligence is absolutely critical to a successful campaign. If I have any complaint about the Loreroot forces' efforts, it is only that we were not positively deluging each other with intelligence - status reports, disposition of enemy forces, etc. No: not all need fight, and strategically speaking, many should not. But the less glamorous task of lookouts and other auxiliaries should not be undervalued at all!

I think immortality would be a curse. It's something my character wrestles with a great deal, and Dr. Manhattan from The Watchmen is an excellent example of how or what you would become if granted immortality.
