This entry probably isn't valid, but he is mine (kinda). As some of you know my eyesight is somewhat poor (exceptionally so) and therefore I donate to a charity in the UK called Guide Dogs. Part of my sponsorship provides money to train a guide dog to be given to a blind or partially sighted person. This is Spirit, my current sponsored guide dog, in his brown training harness. He is currently in training school and is learning to be a fully fledged guide dog. In a number of months time he will be fully trained and start the process of being paired with an owner. Here was spirit as a puppy For those that want more information you can visit: https://www.guidedogs.org.uk/

Forgive me if I don't fully understand your changes recently. But from my point of view as an MP3 player, you're considering these changes from the perspective of a veteran player while make it even harder for new players. This is the second or third one I have that feeling. Every small obstacle you set for veterans, will make something for new players impossible.

It's hard to pick a single favorite. I'll tell you about my favorite among recent readings instead: Mr. Nakata from Haruki Murakami's Kafka on the Shore. He's a solitary old man that , due to a mysterious event in his childhood, lost all his memories along with the ability to read and think "properly". As a kind of collateral effect, he suddenly noticed he could talk with cats, among other things. I can't quite pin down why I like him so much. I guess it's partially due to some sort of inherent wisdom/complexity behind his actions and thoughts (even though on the surface he's seen as a simpleton) and also his way of seeing and dealing with the ways of the world. Interestingly, this book sometimes reminded me of ideas and memories that somehow, in my head, are intrinsically connected to MD.

For me the event that i rmb most is the 10th anniversary of MD in april of 2015. It was a wonderful time spanning 10days. The first day, was a day of supreme hyperactivity, where we were throwing items at each other, lots of 10th anniversary cakes and teas (they keep real well, i still have a bunch i saved in my inventory ) There was a heat war, which i participated in. we were split into teams and the goal was to store as much heat into our team's clickable item. my team's one was located in necrovion, and it was my first time exploring the land. There was also a rhyme off, were wits and words won one wishpoint. Day 2 was a Day of Royalty, about queens and combat. it was hosted by nimrodel, who had a "queen of sheba wants" quest and a combat tournament Day 3 was the Day of megaseedwalk by rophs, where we had stories by the oak, it was by rophs if i remember correctly, someone was being a storyteller, we had poetry at the willow, where we shared poems about who we love in MD Day 4 was the Day of finding yourselves. Where the first 2 labyrinth quests were introduced, venturing into the labyrinth, i often had to find myself in many ways! Day 5 was the Day of the past, where we remembered people and events that made an impact on us (quite like what this post is about!) Day 6 was the Day of the Future where we looked to the future (this period in 2015 also coincided with quite a few new things that were being done. The storymode was removed slightly before the anniversary, role play items were also introduced slightly before that, and with it item combining. Also, the givemask spell was released, oh it was fun confusion for awhile!) Days 7-10 did not have titles as far as i could search, but that does not make them any less exciting! Day 7 had treasure hunt in loreroot, design a cake, and "carve a path" as well "sing it" events held at bob Day 8 had a procession for molquert, who had passed due to his role becoming relatively less relevant Day 9 had a derranged play, which i remember fondly, I believe i stayed up till 5am to partake in the play, which might have helped with me being able to play a graveyard well in a derranged play. Day 10 had somemore treasure hunts and concluded the anniversary celebrations. It was 5years ago, and due to timezone differences, i often had to stay up to the wee hours to participate, but it was all worth it and i had unique experiences that I never found ever again anywhere else

my fav food would be something called he ye fan, which is lotus leaf wrapped glutinous rice. Marinated meats such as pork or chicken, together with mushrooms, and some chinese sausages, or liver sausages are encased in glutinous rice which is then wrapped in lotus leaf and steamed. When done well, the rice comes out nice and sticky, though not mushy, and is filled with the fragrance of the lotus leaf and the savoriness of the meat juices it has soaked up while cooking. The fragrance of the lotus leaf is what makes it for me. It adds a whole new dimension of experience when eating it that i rarely find in other dishes. It is foremost savory and slightly sweet from the marinate, but all amidst the backdrop of a very gentle fragrance that is somewhat like tea due to the it coming from a leaf too, yet is oddly paired really well with savory meats. And I get to enjoy both the amazing joy of eating something savory and the nice elegance of a wonderful fragrance in every bite. i love it. This is a picture i found online for i do not have the skills necessary to make this dish. I hope it helps give a better idea what it is like.

Change isn't always good and meaningful, and if a change serves no purpose than a potential annoyance, I will point that out. AP problem being that it's a gateway, something preventing players from playing. To what extent would this be reasonable? My opposition does lay a bit elsewhere, rather in how reckless pushing changes without the proper care and consideration would do. Rather, a much, much shorter regen timer, with lower maxAP, would be, in my humble opinion, preferable. Through which, max AP would be the desired meaningful resource. Also, merely dismissing isn't a counterargument, it's simply avoiding concerns without addressing it.

depends on player. If curiosity to see what else is there is not a main driving factor, probably not...but i am counting on this because without this curiosity, the players are not the type of people i am looking for. I never intended to make md a casual candycrush game. There are things to return for daily, what we are missing are constant activities, but again, i am counting on the npc fights to fill this game. The plan is to have npc fights fill this gap when there are not enough people, and revive the heads and torch to make real events. I am also preparing seo and advertising, and really doing desperate things like giving inactive people credits or wp via email, just to get out of this collapse. With more people online, activities start to show up. The entire range of things i am doing towards this goal, are in a way shifting the activity balance. There are less attractors and important aims right now, because i moved some of them (like wp), more "in" the middle area of this balance, and this is good. The new attractors that will cause motion will be to perform activities to obtain new creatures. If only i could keep up this volume of work 2-3 more months, and things will get back on a functional track. I am doing my best. This is something that i should have done years ago, to not let MD crash into this state. Now its harder to bring it back up from nearly zero...but not impossible. The people currenlty having the A25 tools are the last standing core of what md is, and i am counting on them to help in this process, because anything i could do, is not enough if the tools are not used right. @Aia del Mana the above answers you also what my plans are regarding everything, AP value included. ..i hope

Apologies - to summarise, with boots, there is no value in AP and max AP, so fix this by giving them value somehow, and then balance the regeneration around this.

    About regen timers

Presently, as I do observe, there are some issues both conceptually, and in terms of balance. Presently, it appears that Action-Points, or as I had suggested it be renamed, "Willpower", were the only numeric resource where one may simply refresh of these by clicking upon some boots. As these did grant to most points above the maximum, one could consider that the maximum Willpower should be inconsequential as long as these were in existence and one did possess of a regeneration interval long enough that one could go whithersoever one did please without regard to one's maximum value. If one were to restore of value to the maximum Willpower/Action-Points that one should attempt to achieve, there could be consideration for the following, which all achieve value in increasing the maximum, although by different methodology: 1. Removal of the boots that do grant of these points in excess, or at least a cost to use the boots, such as heating of them in Necrovion; or mayhap, that the accessible (i.e. presently Non-Necrovian) boots should grant a number which were well below the usual maximum (e.g. boots that would set AP to 100 - this would retain of purpose, but also grant value to the maximum) 2. Recoding of AP such that one cannot exceed one's maximum - making the maximum AP the limit to increase; this would require consideration of recoding many values within the realm so that they should eventually be accessible 3. Regeneration should restore one's AP entirely or in proportion rather than a fixed numeric value (thus, increasing AP would increase the number regenerated per interval) 4. AP maximum should have some other purpose in addition to that which were presently so (thus, the value of AP maximum would be dependent on the value of this additional purpose). An example for this would be that wearing armour/iwielding weapons would decrease the AP maximum when equipped - conceptually, this could be considered that one's willpower were less when one were wearing of heavier armour, given it's burdensome nature; removing of these would restore of the lost willpower maximum. As for the regeneration interval: If one's regeneration interval should restore of AP to maximum, then it may be reasonable to also increase the interval, either proportionally or otherwise, depending on the presence of other sources of AP (such as the aforementioned boots). It doth appear that the advantage of a long interval were in the presence of sources that would grant points (of vitality or AP or otherwise) above one's maximum, whereas if these were not present, then there would be an advantage in a more brief interval. This were a careful balance, but it doth not make conceptual sense that one should be able to hold of greater willpower for a longer duration if one merely takes longer to recoup of't. In summary: AP, and consequently, maximum AP, were essentially free presently; that which were free to all and in abundance shall hold of little or no value in exchange; this must change. It may be reasonable to balance the regeneration interval around such a change.

    About regen timers

Impacting the timer doesn't just change AP, it impacts vitality, and a bunch of other stuff (at least I thought so). If impacting AP is the desire, what about a system that only targets AP? For someone like me, not quite a new player, but practically speaking a new player. After having 5 fights, I have to recharge my creatures, and now I'm out of vitality. Even after walking around, uness I've missed or forgotten something, my only option is shop items, bounties, regen timer, free credits, or an item (whichI don't have) Impacting the regen timer has a lot of consequences, that are far reaching. Are regen timers coded game-wide, or per player (based on when you logged in?) If it is player-based. Let's test it with a clickie that changes the length of time. Zetsuei and I were running around Nevco with Dan when we realized Zet's timer was less than mine because he bought a shop item the decreased intervals. Maybe, make it MP-based, such as for each MP, the timer gets 1.2x longer

Here's my attempt: The Dominion Journey To celebrate MD’s highly symbolic 7th birthday, Mur presented us with a challenging quest/journey that would take place in his Dominion [Ann. 2277]. To put things into perspective: he had forcefully taken rulership over the East [Ann. 1689] around Year 5 and, only on the occasion of a Boss Heads Contest edition [Ann. 1849], had opened his lands [Ann. 1862] to a select group of contestants. From time to time, he would also summon players to his Throne Hall so he could deal with their requests without being bothered by others [Ann. 2104]. Therefore, this was the very first time his personal lands would be “open to the general public”. On the occasion of the previous birthday, we had already seen a significant expansion of the Lands of the East [Ann. 1789] as a new path after the Temple of the Void (back then simply referred to as the temple, if I remember correctly) up to The Gate of the Bored [Ann. 1817] was uncovered. This was already very exciting, but now there would be big challenges with even bigger rewards! The rules were simple: 8 gate keepers would guard 8 locations. If we failed any of their challenges, we needed to return to the beginning and face all guards again, and sometimes they would give us brand new challenges. Beat all guards and you win! Simple, right? But in practice beating all of them in a row was extremely difficult! The first guard was I am Bored, stationed at the Gate of Bored (who would’ve guessed?). After completing his task, we would enter the Dominion and face the infamous Deathwhisper Tunnel, where one would find a guard at each step taken. I cannot remember the exact order, but my guess would be Isabella Finch at the tunnel entrance, then Falronn, Kyphis, Windy, Mya Celestia and then Brulant inside the tunnel. Finally, one could take a breath and a few steps after exiting the tunnel before facing Liberty, the final guard. The challenges ranged from doable to very difficult, but always fun and sometimes thought-provoking as well. A lot of players would get sent back to the beginning over and over again, but most persisted because the journey was one of those rare events that managed to attract and unite the realm as a whole: everyone was having loads of fun. As people passed the last gate keeper, they got to enter the infamous Throne Hall and wait for the others there, all while enjoying the company of the Demon of the East. It took around 6 days for the first 10 winners to be declared [Ann. 2286]. After that, the gates were closed and the winners got a puzzle medal and either a custom reward or one of the newly created drach melodic charms [Ann. 2283], which could be used to put Drachorns in the Drachorn Lair to sleep long enough so one of their riches could be taken from their treasure. The first generation of charm holders had access to extremely valuable tools, such as kill and revive items. In addition, another group of players also received rewards for reaching the last gate [Ann. 2298]. Finally, rewards were sent to the gate keepers for their hard work. The Dominion Journey was finally over and, with it, MD’s 7th Birthday festivities. This was one of the greatest birthdays I ever witnessed in my years around this realm. Note: I tried my best to use announcements as references in an attempt to provide “historical accuracy”. I invite others who were around back then to contribute with more information if they like. I believe this is a great opportunity for us to create an Archive of old and also upcoming events.

To be truly offensive we would have to have a giant game of tag in MD. The person that was ‘it’ had some sort of plague, with a countdown on them where they had to pass it to someone else otherwise they die. The last person who has it when the event is over gets to die for a week or something. (Followed by a community event where we all bring flowers to resurrect that player) Now that, I would consider very fun, but also very offensive. MagicDuel-Histories and Legends

So... I was thinking, since there are a lot of older accounts being reactivated (so much so that Mur had to make an announcement about ancient powers, lol) that a LOT has happened in the realm of MagicDuel. As some of the ads for the game even proclaim: "We never reset"! I don't know very much about what has happened in the twelve years that I've been gone. The Adventure Log is pretty awesome, but it is a lot. I think this would be really handy for old-new players as well as brand new players! The accessibility of lore helps immerse new players. So I wanted to propose a contest, as MD seems to have quite a few authors. Pick one of your favorite events in the history of MD that you witnessed. Try to write a short story-a cliff notes version of what happened if you will-of that event. I am unsure what the reward of this contest will be. I will likely give the winner a silver coin as well whatever else I can cobble together. The contest will end 3/13/20. The winner will be decided by me and a mystery judge. Try to keep the versions of the stories clean, obviously. Also try to keep secrets out of stories, unless they are imperative for the tale being told. The winner will receive a creature of the 14th anniversary as awarded by Aia!

    The MP4 Problem

I believe the problem is that mp4 is designed as 'transitory par excellence'; of course there would be few to none mp4s when you have either some achievements or 'god' status at mp3 and then all the creatures and everything else at mp5. To have a couple perma mp4, I think some advantages must be given for staying at this stage longer, such as a 'secret' creature level for one or two crits that is available only at mp4 (making it so that some people would enjoy a sort of combat superiority) or a bonus to ve farming, or maybe one or two spells that are available only to mp4s. Nothing major, but something that gives mp4 more time, time that would be spent on battle, exploration or even collecting resources.

Pro: AP will not be meaningless (I think it wasn't that meaningless anyway, but those boots...:D) and you'd have to think about it more carefully Con: if you end up having to plan everything (maybe even having to count AP by the unit), it becomes a pain and not fun at all Pro: it will 'force' (stimulate?) cooperation between a low AP player and a high AP player Con: it will reduce the possibility of exploration of a new player In view of this, I just though of something: why not add a few more teleport_to spells in the WP shop? Pro: it will make things harder to obtain (it's a pro, because many things which should not be cheap will not be cheap anymore) Con: it will make things harder to obtain (which is bad in the case of, say, training crits...suddenly, it's not so easy to farm them, but even if in theory this stimulates competition and divides real grinders from average players, it's hard for a new player to even consider grinding when you have so many people with high stats) I voted for the change, but now that I think about it, I'm not sure it's good. If it gets pushed, though, it'll be interesting.

If the regen counter is to be changed, I think it should be localized to MP4's and up as MP3's mostly rely on the regen counter to heal/upgrade their creatures, it's not as much about the AP these days. There are ways for the VP to be regained if you know how to, relying on the counter itself to recover it would take a long time.

I think it won't make a big difference for us vets, since we've "seen it all", but it might severely impact the newcomers (due to lack of cartography and low ap limit). I remember being young and walking around relentlessly looking for any sign of activity around the realm (instead of sitting around in GGG where people would be silently attacking everyone else). As Tissy said, with every change, we must consider how the new players will be impacted. Most of us are past the point of needing game mechanics to keep us around MD. We're here for other reasons (and that might be your goal, I guess), but new players haven't reached that point yet. Imo we need to focus on their opinions.

Some thoughts about the research points

In theory, there is a system in place that works, with submitting research ideas and all. I think that for starters, much of the ancient lore behind MD should be put into these clues. Much of it has been forgotten, with players who discovered it leaving, so perhaps now not even Mur remembers it all. The idea was that players who discover things become mentors for players to come, but what happens when the new players don't come or are less interested? So for starters, research clues must be written up to 7 or 10 or whatever is max now.

    The Mechanism of Wasp's Totem

The Totem that lies deep in Loreroot is built long ago to protect its denizens. As some of you have probably known, Wasp's Totem is Loreroot's Land Defense Weapon. What it actually does is still a mystery, though any would say that it is a defensive weapon, as Loreroot has been defensive since the ages of Daniel Raven. The Totem itself is named after Helen Wasp, which was Daniel Raven's woman. It was said that she was a strong figure, and played a vital role in assisting Daniel to defend Loreroot. Another thing was named after her, the sacrificial altar on Loreroot, Wasp's Altar, the only altar that is not associated with the name fenth. Methods of its activation is still unclear, but the first step is to find a power source for it. Some theories have arisen, one of which is that the two structure bearing Helen's name is built by the same person (either Helen herself, or maybe Raven), and is somehow connected. The altar is unique from other altars, in that it has some kind of glowing stone on its top, which seems to accumulate energy and glow brighter when used for sacrifice (it does glow brighterrwhen u click it, which is what u do when u want to sacrifice a creature). It might be possible that the altar is the power source required to activate the Totem. This possibility is enchanced by the fact that the Totem and the Altar face each other, and the glowing stone does seem like some kind of refracting crystal, so it is possible that the power can be transferred to the Totem via a beam of light gathered trough the crystal, or simply that the crystal gathers the power and sends it through underground mechanism (somekind of cable?). Other possibilities include the crystal being used to gather the Eternal Sun's power and focus it, or used to foucs beams of light&heat, lones of which appear when u release high amount of heats (like the one used to attract the angiens). This is a just theory after all, but all studies begins with research and theories. Please post here what u think about this, and any other theories u could think of. Together, we will start another journey to uncover the secrets of the Realm..
