Touching words. Nothing is meant to last forever, that includes also you, me, anyone, not just "a game". From my perspective, i see MD as a place where people come, learn, evolve, get frustrated, revives their curiosity, they make friends, etc.. its a place, disguised as a journey. At some point in life, every such place you encounter teaches you a lesson, then you leave with what you learned. You go on, and the place opens its gates for an other one and so on. People always wished to expect from MD an end, while it has no end. Just think of the concepts..i started coding it when i didn't knew how to code, i put in it things i discovered through my life, and so did many. Such a "place" has no way of reaching an end, its not designed to do that. All i hoped was that over the years i build enough of MD that people _passing through_ it will find sufficient for their journey, not to trap them inside and promise them a conclusion that is not their. Each one finds its own way through, the difference is made by what they gather during this journey, in their mind, soul and life experience. I am the only one truly trapped in here, and as long as i live, Md will live with me, opening its gates to whoever is attracted by its mysteries. Wish you well, I hope it was a fruitfull journey, and as long as you don't self-destruct your account, it will always be here for you if you miss it.

I'm not sure what makes me log in every day to play MagicDuel, but I have done so for more than 6 years now. I guess there are many hard-to-describe little things that make it enjoyable. However, the 'game' aspects of MD are somehow downplayed. For example, the combat system is excellent (and that's enough to make a game memorable, right?), but there is a sense of it being just something to be good at if you want to, but not imperative. It's not ''the way'' to progress, it's ''a way''. Well, maybe I can't explain my reasons, but I know this game is something that some of you will find to be ''perfect''. You may think you want the prettiest ring, the most expensive ring, the most sought-after ring, but that's not what you really want; what you want is a ring that fits you. Give MD some time, and time shall reveal if it fits you.

Hello my friends. This is what most people would call a goodbye, but not me, for I do not believe in absolute decisions. I know this post is quite out of the blue. I have been meaning to get to it for quite some time but kept doubting whether I should actually do this. For me, MD is no more. I say this because MD was never magicduel.com for me. It was my friends, my family, my sparring, my land, my quests, my drama. And for a long while now, every single one of those things has ceased to exist. I cannot count the number of beautiful memories I have spent with you all. I want them to stay beautiful memories rather than become tarnished by the current state of the realm. Not that this is anyone's fault. Chewett, Mur and countless others have worked tirelessly to give us the experience we have loved all these years. I just think that this concept, this idea, this story that is called MD... was never meant to last forever. It just isn't built to be sustainable. Like every little project within it, this entire project as a whole is meant to be left incomplete and eventually abandoned among a long list of other never-ending tasks. Every inch of this website that is called magicduel.com is screaming every day to free itself and end its pain. I have now decided to play my part in that, because I wish you remember it and you all in the best way possible. I hope one day, many many years from now, my kid browses the net trying to figure out what game they should treat themselves with on their 16th birthday, as their father once did. And they come upon a familiar face called magicduel. And by that time it's an insane next level 'game' that we all hoped it would be. They would show me what its like and I would pretend I had never heard of it and tell them to enjoy. I would then cry that whole night in silence in a mixture of sadness and happiness. Thank you, all of you. Every single one. Those who are closest to me, the ones I spent my best memories with and had the dearest of conversations with - I hope you read this and know who you are. Thank you for creating the world's most beautiful prison. Its now time to set myself free. ______________________________________________________________________________ "You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain". Hello everyone, one last time. Yours forever, DD

A game about stories. Stories that you choose not only what happens, but where it goes, how it impacts you, and even what that story is. I've learned that in MagicDuel one often has their character go and explore options, or routes, that they(or I) would never take as a person. My character might find fulfillment in doing something that I never would in my real life. Then the realization hits that my character and I are not so different after all. In that moment, the friends, the choices, the decisions, the stories become more than just part of a game and a character, they become real, they become part of you. All of those times when your character did something that forced you out of your comfort zone, you've realized that your comfort zone has now grown. I have been pushed, pulled, and gravitated to many things in MagicDuel, all of these have made me do two things: learn and grow.

    New Caretakers Leader - Ledah

Thank you to phantasm for inviting me to the alliance initially and coming back to endorse the handover. I know you are a busy man and I hope one day to see you around more often. Hopefully I don't miss you next time! Thank you Mal as well for sticking around On a more practical note, there will probably be changes coming to the alliance, any new leader needs to make their mark, after all. With that said, the biggest change that can be made at the moment is adding some new blood, so if anybody is interested in joining, please don't hesitate to make it known.

Torch contest for control over NML

Bring back torch contest and modify it so the land winner of the torch contest would have their land expand one scene into No Man's Land towards GoE, and subsequently further towards the other lands. Losing the contest would decrease your influence by one scene. The influence would never pass the opposing land's gates. The Path of Loneliness would be skipped over, always a part of Established Housings. The goal would be to gain as much influence over NML as possible in order for your citizens to have easier effort moving in the area, and particularly to be able to enter your land with the land loyalty afforded through controlling your gate, and even to control other lands gates! Any more thoughts/ideas?

At first I was hooked by the detailed hand-made artworks, the possibility to write your own story, and the all-pervading symbolism. Then I discovered how easily (and selectively!) this "game" creates networks of kindred spirits. I suppose this is its main feature. I traded pieces of my true self with my character, with other characters and with the people behind them. Most of the times, it was a valuable and teaching experience. So yeah, a game?

to me, MD is expression and growth, a catalysis for personal change. there were thing's in my life that i was struggling to deal with, and i used MD as a mask for them. my persona in MD i found ended up doing the same, using a persona to hide from herself. MD was there while i needed this escape, and when i had dealt with my problems my character dropped her persona too. MD allowed me to express a part of myself that i could never have done before, something that i really needed to , even if just for a short while. i took a part of myself, and gave it it's own life. she sleeps now, but i don't think i would have done certain thing's in my life had it not being for the ability to express differently here. i'm very grateful i was able to have that experience, the personal connection it's given me has made MD into the place that i've stuck around the longest. i tend to be a drifter, not staying in one place for more than a couple of years at most, but MD has kept me for 7 years, and while i don't have the same time available to devote to it, it's still something i don't plan on leaving

My Other vote is Make MD FF-compatible (I personally have no issues, but others complain incessantly) and/or make a magicduel.com/mobile page that allows you to fight and move (hopefully less intensive-particularly by making static erolin orbs an option) Also my vote includes adding the discord button... but Apparently I have to work to get him to do that

    The Guillotine Merchant

So, here's the idea: a guillotine. The guillotine is a huge market exchange when you code it, but on the outside is just a regular guillotine. Anyone can sell and buy from the guillotine. You can sell your resources and get silver or gold; items like gold bars or gems would yield more gold, for example. You can also buy resources, but only the ones left there before, and in fixed amounts (e.g. someone has sold 500 timber before you, so you can buy 100 timber). And here's the catch: apart from calculating your due cash, it also calculates your chance to survive the trade. Hey, you're trading, you have to face a risk. When buying, the risk is lower (but it also depends on what you're buying), say, 30-40% lower. Selling, though, means a bigger risk, but you can also get a huge amount of money this way. Plus some skill (trading skill is already taken, so something else) that would work for a nice tag. The guillotine merchant...sounds so nice...😈

    The Guillotine Merchant

I won’t go that far in the beginning. All I want is a convenient place to trade, like the auction house in WoW. the lack of fluidity in our ecosystem is partly caused by the inconvenience that one has to pm or post topics, which happens only when one feels necessary. put everything you don’t need in a house. Set a starting bid price or a buyout price and leave. The purchase happens not only when people need but mostly when they see. if you want to introduce risk. There could be blink bidding. the guillotine concept sounds more like a gamble to me. I like gamble, people like gamble. But I prefer implementing it after the market is more active and complete.

    A creature Machine

I've actually joked around with this idea from folks, but I'll add it here. Basically what my Idea is a small vending machine that runs on silver coins and gold coins. It can be twice a day but the creature it gives you is completely random. You however have the option to reject what was offered to collect "points". The higher the amount of points you have, the higher chance you have for the creature obtained via vending machine to be rarer than usual. Points attained also may have higher values depending on the rarity of what was given back. Points are consumed when you finally grab one but it is in varying degrees depending on how rare the creature you obtained was. When using gold coins you get a multiplier bonus for the points you have plus a higher chance to gain a rare creature, but but all points would be consumed if you grab the creature. There is also a machine next to the vendor next to the machine that exchanges the "paper money" for its coin derivative.

hi everyone, I need some testimonials type of texts, like for example what means MD to you, or how you would explain what md is to someone that has no clue. They don't need to be positive, but should make someone intrigued and curious. If you wish to help me with this, you can post here (if you want them signed by you), or send them to me in private (if you wish to remain anonymous) Thanks

I believe static erolin-orbs are already an option, but they remain such that their persistent animation, even when stationary, doth drain of one's portal rather rapidly. I believe the solution for a mobile interface, at least initially, must be twofold - first, to remove the orbs completely, and second, to remove the animation of the compass-menu.

ChewettToday at 16:59 On the post There should be two code sections I have called them top and bottom to describe them here StenoToday at 17:00 yes, got it. Do I also removed the open and close
? ChewettToday at 17:00 Yeah, they were because the forum broke it StenoToday at 17:01 sweet lord. The problem was that simple? Just delete the stupid php opena nd close? ChewettToday at 17:01 Maybe How is it looking now? StenoToday at 17:01 The way I wanted it to look ChewettToday at 17:01 What happens when you run it? is it working as expected? StenoToday at 17:01 Is the output field always centered and justified ChewettToday at 17:02 I think by default it is, but you can change that using HTML If you wrap everything in a <div> in the right panel <div style="text-align: left">ALL YOUR OTHER HTML HERE</div> Should do what you want Gimme a shout if it doesnt, you are paying me here! StenoToday at 17:03 shoot, I have more important things than the alignment If had the same error messages copying your key code from your key control post, was it probably from the open and close
as well? ChewettToday at 17:04 If you want me to, I can go through reviewing and fixing posts now  But yes the PHP stuff should NOT have any
tags in either sections StenoToday at 17:05 I think there are about 1000 more important things you could do. Also doesn't A25 make most of the MDScript kind of... archaic? ChewettToday at 17:05 Kind of, A25 is for "scene" things that will affect all of MD The problem is generally you end up "cluttering" the scene, I am already concerned some scenes are too busy in GWI We might need to introduce a MDScript type thing for A25, where one clickable can have "multiple" things StenoToday at 17:06 That's what I figured you say. AFter about 4-6 objects per scene things get a little cluttered. ChewettToday at 17:07 Yeah, its one of the concerns I have with A25 StenoToday at 17:07 That sounds like something I think Aia would enjoy ChewettToday at 17:07 A25 will need a recode before anyone can do that however, so it needs some work At the moment A25 has a single coded set of actions per clickable StenoToday at 17:08 Got it. I didn't see this as a function in MDScript or maybe I was looking for wrong label But is there a way I can have MDScript act like a resource combiner? like check if player has 2X, 4, Y, 3 Z and then show them [A] ChewettToday at 17:08 It should be able to check resources/items held I believe. I can look up the docs for you if you wish. It cant create items however. StenoToday at 17:09 Ah, so it can't give things back? That will be fine. I can provide a password that filling the combiner gives, and then when receive the password they tell me to get reward I would love if you could tell me the title of the forum post ChewettToday at 17:09 It cant take items either I dont believe I dont believe I know the title but I can look for it for you? StenoToday at 17:10 true, that would be easily abusable ChewettToday at 17:10 It can take heat I believe StenoToday at 17:10 just checking will work, I can put in legwork on my end as workaround ChewettToday at 17:10 What do you want me to check, to confirm? StenoToday at 17:11 What code is to check inventory items ChewettToday at 17:11 I will look now. mds_get_resource_count() http://magicduel.invisionzone.com/topic/17859-function-mds_get_resource_count/ MagicDuel Forums Function: mds_get_resource_count() array mds_get_resource_count() Returns an associative array with the resources a user has in their inventory and the count. The returned format is: array(42) { Aromatic herbs = int(98) Basic Iron Ingot = int(4) Bones = int(2) Branches = int(109) Bushies = int(50) Clay = int(18... Do you want me to check for counting items too? StenoToday at 17:12 what is the difference? ChewettToday at 17:12 resources are anything tagged as a resource StenoToday at 17:12 oh, one counts, one gives total inventory ChewettToday at 17:13 The returned format is: array(42) { 'Aromatic herbs' => int(98) 'Basic Iron Ingot' => int(4) 'Bones' => int(2) 'Branches' => int(109) 'Bushies' => int(50) 'Clay' => int(18) } That is the resource item. Shall I look to see if I can find something to find items? StenoToday at 17:13 yeah, something that could check inventory for an amount ChewettToday at 17:13 I will look now. StenoToday at 17:13 wait, would the code need a specific number? Or would there need to be extra code if above and beyond ChewettToday at 17:14 Which code? StenoToday at 17:15 havne't found it yet, I just realized if you found one that counted, I don't know how to make it look beyond a specified number to include a range of "Yes" and "No" answers ChewettToday at 17:15 mds_has_item() is the one you want: http://magicduel.invisionzone.com/topic/7342-function-mds_has_item/ MagicDuel Forums Function: Mds_Has_Item Copied from Mur's announcement You can now check if user has a specific item or not. The function mds_has_item("item name") returns the number of items the player has (zero if none). Because coins are technically also items, you can also check how much silver or gold someone h... @va = mds_has_item("Silver coin"); echo "You have ".@va." Silver coins"; @va = mds_has_item("Mammon's Book"); if(@va>0){ echo "You have the book"; }else{ echo "Go search for Mammon's Book"; } It will return a number StenoToday at 17:17 so would I change the "@va>0" To my amount, such as 4 or 5? ChewettToday at 17:17 Yes So if you wanted to check if they had 5 for example I would write: @va = mds_has_item("Silver coin"); if(@va >= 5){ echo "You have 5 silver coins or more, enough to pay your protection money to Chewett"; }else{ echo "Sounds like you need to get money fast or you will get beaten!"; } StenoToday at 17:18 that's great. If this comes from the person offering the lecture, i will need to double check with the one receiving it, to confirm they are happy about it. If it comes from the person receiving the lecture, i will award the coin to the one giving directly. I will try to keep a score synced with your "menu" too, thats why i want a very short summary, so i know where in your menu it fits. Here is the list of the current documented coins. I remind you that after the first 100, these will be recycled and each coin will keep its own history. I will probably do a more automated system, but for now manual management will suffice. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ZwvQyRzHrbEhM4WSr9D-oX6CsIXvdlATzhYugQGkftE/edit?usp=sharing

What is HTML? HTML is a way of formatting "stuff" on the web. It allows you to format and display text and images in wonderful ways. There are many wonderful websites dedicated to learning HTML, so i wont cover that here, but recommeded reading is looking at W3Schools HTML Tutorial here For MDScript you only need to type the content between the
<body></body>
tags so dont worry about anything above or below it. However knowing about it might be helpful if you want to write your own HTML pages. Some useful HTML tags are listed below:
<b>This is Bold</b> <i>Makes it italic</i> <u>Makes it underlined</u> This is one line This is on the next because of the BR line This is one line <p> This is two lines down because its a Paragraph! <img src="http://magicduel.com/beta/scene/4x4_2.jpg">
This is Bold Makes it italic Makes it underlined This is one line This is on the next because of the BR line This is one line This is two lines down because its a Paragraph! Note: Although some of the tags above have been deprecated (or should be!) in HTML5 it is much easier for new people learning html to use them than to faff around with CSS. Although they are wonderful and i would always recommend using them, it is much better to learn the basics of HTML, before worrying about semantically separating structure and formatting.</p>

If you know PHP, then you probably should skip to this post (not yet written) which has a list of notes and differences between PHP and MDScript If you know some programming already but not PHP, you should probably look at this post for a quick overview of PHP and MDScript (not yet written) MDScript allows you to do a lot with the clickables around, the most used application is for quests and games. Also at higher levels you can script code onto items. Each Tutorial post is designed to be kept small, and to encourage testing with various features of MDScript. These Forums are the main sections where you can discuss and ask questions about MDScript. MDScript is a language to manipulate and store data. The main way of displaying it is HTML. The "code" for HTML is relatively simple and you dont need to know much. Before you start looking at MDScript it is recommended to read through Tutorial 1.5: HTML Reference If you are ready to begin learning some MDScript then continue to Tutorial 2: Not Yet Written
